  Saving and restoring windows

Author: John Small
Date: Jun 29, 2008 03:39

An application has code to save its widnows so they can be restored
when the application is restarted. But the code does not work as
intended.

The child window which has the focus seems to affect the save/restore
process. For example, if window X has the focus the restore places the
windows one way but, with the same arrangement of windows, if window Y
has the focus the restore places the windows differently.

Please help me with references to documentation and/or sample code
which would show how to accomplish this task?

TIA.

How to know the window class

Author: lpino
Date: Jun 25, 2008 09:00

I'm trying to process the WM_DRAWITEM message and I need to discover
what type of control is posting it. Someting like:

int class = SOME API;
if(class == WC_MENU)
paint the menu item
else if(class == WC_LISTBOX)
paint the list box

Is there something like that.

Thanks

  Event sequences for emphasis changes

Author: Jim Moe
Date: Jun 23, 2008 22:25

Hello,
Our program has two containers side by side. The left one is a tree
view; the right one is in details views. Selecting a folder in the tree
(left) view causes the contents of the folder to display in the details
view container.
Also the tree view allows multiple levels which may be expanded and
collapsed.
When an expanded view is collapsed, the usual (expected) sequence of
events is CN_EMPHASIS and the flags indicate a loss of emphasis. Then
another CN_EMPHASIS with the flags showing a gain of emphasis. This is good.
Based on the above, the code expects to clear the details window before
re-populating it.
But the opposite sequence is also happens! The gain of emphasis can
arrive *before* the loss. This results with the details window briefly
showing the contents of both folders...

How to change class of a file object ("Become" page functionality) ?

Author: Lars Erdmann

Hi,

all file objects (WPDataFile or derived) have a "Become" page (or
"Object class" ?) where you can change their class to a selection of
other compatible classes where "compatible classes" do not necessarily...

Torakka on äärimmäisen vanhaa eläinpopulaatiosuuntaa. Jolla on
selkäytimissään sellaista käyttäytymismallia, jota harvalla eläimellä on.
Toisaalta torakkaa pidetään aivan yleisesti äärimmäisen herkkänä, suorastan
legendaarísen tarkkana hahmottamaan elinympäristönsä vaaratilannemuutoksia.
Muistamme miten mm. norsut, ja viisaammat eläimet pelastautui taanoisesta
tsunamista pakenemalla ennakoiden laumoin vuorille, siksi uutinen torakoista
"huolestuttaa" yli uutiskynnysten? Torakan toki pitäisi olla varsin kestävä
myös säteilyn suhteen. Ymmärtääkseni kuolleina näitä ei ole...

  Rexxtacy

Author: Mie

When I'm going to translate a Rexx app to C, I'll have a basic problem
with this parts. The app sorts a text file. It also performs more than
that, e.g. data checks, but I don't have a problem with the difficult
steps... :-)

Such a text file has a header line, followed by XXXXX lines with data.
A line never is longer than 86 bytes, but assuming 96 or 128 bytes per
line is safer. IRL the number of lines is about 50,000 per text file,
200 items*265 weekdays, but the number of items depends on the user.
Nevertheless it's okay to perform all operations in memory, about 6 MB
of RAM isn't that much nowadays.

There's an ugly work-around I do understand, but that involves a file
per item. I'ld like to avoid that, just like I'ld like to avoid using
existing tools. For one because its already a collection of many tools,
and data quality (compared to other os'es) is an important issue.

The Rexx-version uses the simplest bubble sort. The data is reasonably
sorted already, but more important is that I'l understand that better
than a more complex sorting method. Feel free to improve that, but I do
like to see some understandable bubble sort too.

Ann: Iron Spring L/I Compiler Alpha version 0.6a

Author: Iron Spring Software
Date: Jun 11, 2008 14:50

09 Jun, 2008:
A new ALPHA version of the Iron Spring PL/I compiler for OS/2 is now
available for free download at: http://www.iron-spring.com

This is the sixth alpha version. It is still missing many features,
but is working well enough to compile itself and its runtime library.
The "release notes" included in the package document some, but not
all, of the current restrictions. The 1.0 release is expected to be
roughly a "Subset G" compiler. Eventually the compiler will handle the
full PL/I language plus extensions from other compilers.

Following the OS/2 version a Linux version is planned.

Version 0.6a implements the %%REPLACE preprocessor statement, adds the
'FROMALIEN' procedure option to allow calls to PL/I from other
languages, and packages the runtime library as a DLL and import
library in addition to the previously distributed static object
library.

Yksinkertainen kysymys: "Mitä Suomen valtion kansantalous saa tehtyä niillä
