How Do I Connect To Internet

Author: gregoryhouse4

I have OS/2 Warp 4 installed and I want to access the Internet through a
router. Can anyone give me any info on how to configure OS/2? The router
acts as a DHCP server so the IP address can change. Thanks.

I need updating about these aspects...

Hello folks I have been absent for ages because things have been going well and have had no questions which I couldn't work out on my own.

However, today I thought I had better take a fresh backup of all my partitions. I came across these problems:
* LVM could not process an NTFS disk. I had to use Partition Magic to delete all the partitions...

  Partition Magic Pro 5

Author: jch
Date: May 24, 2008 10:36

_____
Hello All OS/2 Users,

I recently built fresh install of OS/2 Warp 4, and needed to move
partition boundaries a bit. My floppy disk set (dated 1999) of
Partition Magic (by Powerquest) failed. Diskette 2 developed a read
error. I cannot find my original Pro 5 CD anywhere. Surfing the net i
have been unable to locate a copy of the CD. The reason for using
version 5 is that it handles partitions containing a HPFS file system.
Some of the later versions apparently do not.

I have two options available to move partition boundaries:
1) Find a good copy of Partition Magic Pro v5.0 on CD or floppies, or
2) Use DFSee's (most recent release) "move partition" function.
Unfortunately, DFSee's function seems to be disabled, or not yet
implemented.

Does any of you have any comments, ideas?

  ThinkPad T42 T43 wireless

Author: Barbara
Date: May 23, 2008 08:10

HI,

I've owned a T42 ThinkPad since 2004, and the wireless card has never
worked worth a hoot. It's an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG mini pci
device. It's there, it's alive and a couple of times while parked at
a campground or in a coffee shop I've been able to connect using it
with XP. But I soon gave up, bought a Hawking USB HWU54D adapter
which is outstanding.... using Windows XP. Can't use the USB adapter
with OS/2 - eCS.

I just thought the Intel 2200BG was a puny receiver.

Then a couple weeks ago, I picked up a refurbished T43 ThinkPad with
what XP detects as the identical Intel 2200BG card, and it works
great! I don't yet have eCS or OS/2 installed on it, but from the XP
perspective I have no trouble connecting to my municipal wireless
network here in my house. The T42 sitting 4 feet away can't do that.

Why such a difference? I know many of you own ThinkPads, and wonder
if you've seen anything similar. Is the T43 built-in antenna better
or what?

memory problem on a new machine

Author: ()
Date: May 20, 2008 12:07

On a new system with more physical ram than the old one
(2 gig now, 1 gig before), when I execute the following rexx
code the system churns and hangs and eventually (a long
tim) there is an error message saying memory full

/* */
src = sysfiletree('*',dirdata.,'FT')
say src
exit

Sysfiletree is a rexx utilty function that just loads all the
names of files in a directory into an array. There are only
800 file in the directory in question. This works without trouble
and instantly on all my other os2/ecs machines.

So now on a newly configured machine somehow all available
memory is being used up.

Does anyone have any ideas about what configuration parameter
may be the trouble? I've looked through config.sys for clues but
haven't seen them, but I've never encountered anything like this
and am not sure what to look for.

Thanks,
