What topics would you like to see dealt with in presentations and
workshops at this year's Warpstock Europe event? After the success of
the previous years' wish lists, a Wiki has been set up again where you
can easily enter your suggestions:
http://www.warpstock.eu/en/agenda/wish_list.html
Please take the time to add some suggestions to this wish list. This
will not only help us in looking for suitable speakers but may also
convince potential speakers that they have something interesting to say
and to step forward.
All those interested in making presentations or conducting workshops are
asked to submit their information to our Session Manager
(info@warpstock.eu) as soon as possible.
If we do not receive any offers to give a presentation about a requested
topic, we will do our best to find an expert on that topic.

I am sharing the good and bad news on this subject.
I felt I needed the diskettes to edit files on a SCSI drive which I had moved
from a dead U160 mobo to a new U320 mobo. The drive had aicu160.add but needed
aicu320.add in order to boot past the earliest reports from config.sys.
I took ages to experiment and read the archives and arrive at what is almost a
winning formula:-
I altered only diskette 1.
I avoided everything associated with snooping.
I deleted aic78u2.add because it was big and not associated with snooping.
I deleted ibm2*.add because I needed the extra space.
I added aicu320.add.
In config.sys I remmed the references to the files I had deleted and added
basedev=aicu320.add (twice because the controller is a dual).
I noted that the u160 box that created the diskettes copied across aicu160.add
but not aicu320.add, perhaps because, although present it was not loaded.
This set of diskettes booted the box that created them and one other, but not
the new box. The failure occurred when loading from diskette 2, and Warp kindly
created a popuplog on the diskette.

I'd like to link up with someone familiar with rsync on os2/ecs.
The startup on this probably wonderful package is difficult. I'm
sure I'm making some stupid mistakes that someone with experience
could easily correct.
Thanks,
Tim Stephen

This might be wishful thinking, but is it possible to have the desktop
Drives folder show the drive label as well as the drive letter?

Hello All,
Tried to build OS/2 Warp 4 (from IBM CD Part No.84H3109) using
installation floppies that have a DASD driver to accommodate 8 Gb hard
disks. The build failed to install the network. The error message i
got was "not enough disk space for network .....". Yet, the partition i
attempted to use was 4 Gb in size. I had installed this Warp 4
version succesfully on a smaller partition some time ago. As a test, i
dropped the partition size to 2 Gb. The installation program builds the
entire OS just fine on the 2 Gb partition, including all the networking
software.
Is this a known problem, and if yes, what does one do about it?
As a work-around i hope that i can enlarge the 2Gb partition to 4 Gb
with Partition Magic V5. Have not yet done that yet. FDISK had no
problem seeing all the 6.5 Gb on the disk, and was able to create a 4 Gb
or a 2 Gb primary partition (preceded by the IBM Boot Manager).

I recently had a hard lockup on my K8 system (running SuSe Linux) after
over a year of uptime. More alarming than the lockup, the system
wouldn't boot up afterward. During the boot sequence, the graphics card
does its initialization, showing the amount of video RAM, then the
"quick" memory check executes, showing the total amount of RAM, the CPU
ID is printed, and then the system went off into space. No error
indications, no attempt to access any disk or boot up, and no beep error
codes. Keyboard completely unresponsive. The worst part of this was
that it didn't even register my key to enter the BIOS setup. It
locked up too soon before that point. So I couldn't see if there was a
temperature/voltage issue from the diagnostics or anything.
I have the "DLink" connector hooked up to the USB internally, which is a
set of LEDs that indicate the current process that is occurring during
boot-up. The LEDs indicated that it was in the process of probing the
PCI bus and scanning for devices.

I have some old OS/2 distributions (1.1EE, 1.2EE, 1.3EE, 1.3SE) that
I'm about to toss. Original boxes and everything. With the exception
of 1.3SE I know them to be complete. (1.3SE probably is as well, but
it was out of my hands at some point.) I also have an extended services
disk set. If anybody wants any of this to archive let me know...
