 Up
  Ethernet drivers?

Author: Pierre Jelenc

How do I find out what drivers and configuration changes are needed to set
up the built-in "integrated 10/100 Ethernet" interface on my Dell
Dimension B110?

The machine now runs PPP/dialup, so the basic TCP/IP system is OK but I
have no clue how to find out whether the built-in Ethernet port is
detected automatically or not, and the documentation (skimpy and Windows-
only) is no help. There is only OS/2-eCS on this machine, but I do have a
bootable Ubuntu CD.

Thanks,

Pierre

  file recovery

I have a device that was writing to an SD card when there was a power
cut. As expected, the file on the SD card wasn't closed properly.
There is a directory entry that the device can see, and it reports a
file size of 1.3 GB, which is about right, but the device can't do
anything with the file. After attaching the device to a computer via
a USB connection, a directory listing returns the error message about
the directory entry being corrupted, which is also not a surprise.
CHKDSK was able to repair the directory entry, but the file was
apparently truncated to about 1.0 GB in the process. So there are
probably about 300 MB worth of linked clusters that have no directory
entry associated with them anymore.

  Removing EA's (extended attributes)

Author: PaulRS
Date: Aug 8, 2008 17:08

Is there a correct way of removing Extened Attributes?

Explain: I use the file program DirMaster from Enriva Development.
Whenever I access, more, copy, a simple FAT or DOS file from a DOS/FAT
directory. EA's are added. I can see the file "ea data. sf" in the
FAT/DOS directory begin to grow. I know that there are no important
attributes for these files (at least from the programs that used them
- WordStar DOS) , but this "es data. sf" simply takes up room. I can
delete it under another operating system (SuSE 10.3) that is dual
booted on this machine.

Am I missing something?
Is there a more correct (under OS2) way to delete them?

Paul

  DFSEE vs Seagate Backup Exec

_____
Looks my trusty HP Colorado T1000e parallel port tape machine is
failing. I have tried to work with DFSEE starting from a floppy. Was
able to make an image of Drive C: onto another partition such as Drive
E:. What is the procedure to rebuild an entire copy of OS/2 onto the C:
partition using the previously written C: drive image? DFSEE looks like
a very thorough toolkit, but i find it rather cryptic.

  IBM Peer Fixpack ip08406

_____
I am trying to update IBM Peer on OS/2 Warp system (fixpack 15, kernel
14.104a_W4). I prepared the diskette with IBM's RAWRITE.EXE and with
unix's DD utility. The IBM supplied CSF diskette prepared with either
method cannot be read or run standalone. Has anyone tried to perform
this update? If yes, what was the source of the diskettes? I
downloaded mine from
<ftp://ps.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/lan/fixes/ibm.peer/english-us/ip08406/>.
