  www.os2ezine.com?

Author: Baden Kudrenecky

Hi:

I just got a 404 at www.os2ezine.com, and that
disturbed me. Does anyone know if and where that site
is? If need be, I would not mind hosting the archive
on my site, if it isn't more then 5 GiB, as I find the
information invaluable.

later,
lin Baden

  Moving Warpin apps

Author: piesse
Date: May 26, 2008 10:00

I have installed a number of applications using Warpin, always in the
default directory (X:\APPS\) as I found very convenient to have all of
them under the same root.
However, that disk is now running short of space, and I would like to
move them somewhere else.
Is there a way of moving them and updating the warpin database with the
new drive letter, or should I uninstall and reinstall each one in the
new location?

thanks,
Piersante

Sir:
/RANT on
IN hope someone(s) will take this as constructive suggestions.

Another author used the poorly thought out Warpin directive "requires"
and failed to install using his script. Needless to say, the
prerequisite does exist and is just where it has been for the past
installs of his tool. When are authors going to read posts telling them
that "requires" is a badly implemented feature of Warpin? If they want
to define prerequisites, they need to use Rexx to search for those items
and NOT depend upon a simple search of Warpin's database. OF course,
I'd be bitching a lot less if Warpin's database did not have size
limits, which are all to quickly reached. (And don't keep on blaming
libc bugs, sqllite is fully capable of managing the database without
these size limits.)

  Sysbench 0.95

I posted this in the eComStation yahoo group.

Interesting bug. I don't know what the eCS 2.0 Demo CD is, but I did
notice a
problem with Sysbench that resulted in the behaviour you described.

If the USB support is configured this way:

BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /REMOVABLES:8 /FLOPPIES:1

then Sysbench will exit. If USB support is configured this way:

BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /REMOVABLES:2 /FLOPPIES:1

then Sysbench runs normally.

  Unzip.dll

Author: William L. Hartzell
Date: May 16, 2008 23:51

Sir:

I was looking at the various zip and unzip files on my computer, after
wondering about ClamAv problems with zip files. To my surprise at least
one author of current supported software are still using outdated
versions of unzip.exe. But to my concern I see that the only copy of
unzip.dll was compiled before the last unzip.exe was published. So I am
wondering if there exists a newer version than this 2001 version that I
have in \tcpip\dll or the one in Warpmedia distro. Google on this found
Alex Taylor might have published a later one, but I cannot find it. So
is it even current?

Also, how do I tell the Maul publisher to update his distro, without
joining another Yahoo group?

  ClamAV OS/2 question

Author: Mike Luther
Date: May 14, 2008 13:46

For test purposes, I've gottem the .93 latest version of ClamAV for OS/2
installed and gotten the latest update on one MCP2 box. This is with the bare
minimum changes in the conf files for it per Herwig's answer to Bill Hartzell's
install help request for the toolset and also in a discrete #\ClamAV directory
which is the way I prefer to work with utilities.

I've gotten it to download the latest today signature update files. Now, as a
non 'NIXie person, I'd like to use clamscan.exe for what I usually do to start
learning how to do things, scan a floppy diskette. No dice with:

clamscan a:

OK .. what does it take in the NIXie world exported to OS/2 operation with the
'unreversed' (?) backslashes and so on to get this basic first learning step
done? Would somebody post the command line 'text' from a pure OS/2 window
command line object to do this and start me down this trail? How to scan all
files on the A: floppy, with or without subdirectory drilling? With any other
simple guidelines that might help me. Yes, I've read the html documentation
file on it. But I've gotta get past the above before I can dig myself deeper
into the hole, grin!

Thanks!

  Status of MR/2 ICE

Author: me
Date: May 13, 2008 14:27

I am running MR/2 ICE 2.67 at present and encountered a problem over the
previous weekend when someone spammed this newsgroup with an item that
caused ICE to crash whenever it attempted to retrieve it. I see when I
google search that there is supposed to be a new release being developed,
but I see nothing more current than over a year ago. Am I going to be
able to download a newer version at some point? I have grown fond of MR/2
ICE over the years, but if it is going to be dead-
ended I will need to start looking into alternatives.
