Hello!
I got a strange phenomen running wild on 2 PCs. PC#1 is a real PC (XP
up2date, with some Norton AV guard running) and the PC#2 is a virtual
(vmware) PC (xp up2date as well, with AntiVir protected). PC#1 uses
remote desktop to work on PC#2. So far all is fine and pink. However,
often it happens that when people work remote on PC#2 keys get
swallowd invisibly and the foreground window is lost, and then a split-
second later reactivated.
For example: you type a sentence in Word and suddenly the blue title
bar starts to flicker blue/gray - and while you continue typing every
other character is lost (due to the fact that Word is no longer the
keywindow). However, there is no other obvious programm running
stealing this key, nor putting itself visibly into the foreground!
We are at a complete loss as to which application or program this
could be. There is nothing extraordinary installed on boths PC, other
than Office 2K3, Adobe Acrobat, AntiVir or Norten, and HP 2015n
printer drivers. Windows Add/Remove Software lists just these among
quazillions plus Windows Updates. An extensive Malware or Virus-Scan
found nothing on both PCs.

I had a trial of Windows Server 2003 on my originally XP Home Compaq
Presario which just seemed to freeze up and get to moments where it
almost freezed up and was going incredibly slow. I then recovered the
PC thinking it was server 2003, but XP Home starting acting a little
similar.
Now it either gives a burn failure on the burn with both Roxio or Nero
or it just failed verify.
I checked the hard drive with Hard Drive Sentinel to see if it's a bad
hard drive and it said 2 bad sectors but other than that nothing
wrong. I talked to some other people and they claim it's possible that
my drive came with that.
The memory in the PC is almost brand-new because I just bought it
about a few days ago.
The specs on the system are:
2.4 AMD Athlon 64
2GB RAM
200GB SATA HD

Hi,
Since i installed roaming profiles, all my users using Windows XP have
all their files deleted, they don't appear in the recyble bin !
On their stations, they don't have admin rights. Is there any problems
with the recycle bin and files on a net share ?
Thanks all for your time and help,
Regards,

I know that the 'title' command in a cmd or bat file will change the
command prompt window to the title you specify.
Is there a corresponding way to determine the current title of the
window within a script?
You know something like (psuedocode, not real cmd):
...
if get_title == "Command Prompt"
goto comprompt:
if get_title == "Admin Server"
goto server:
...
Thanks -

I've been using XP for quite a while, and it was convenient to have
the speaker icon in the taskbar. Somehow, I lost this over the last
few weeks, and I don't understand how to get it back.
I've surveyed the common solutions for this problem, which are:
1. Check the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" option in the "Sounds
and Audio Devices Properties". This is checked, and it has been for a
long time.
2. Install "sndvol32.exe" into "c:\WINDOWS\system32\". This is in
place already.
These are the only two solutions I've seen for this problem, and
neither of them apply to my situation. What else could be wrong here?

Announcing Pallet-Picker 2
We've all seen web sites and catalogues with print that just isn't
readable. Sometimes the type is too small, sometimes it's poor color
selection. Here, finally, is a tool that a designer can use to fight
the color selection problem.
Pallet-Picker 2 is released today by Notesoft. This program, for Mac
or Windows, assists graphics arts designers in two ways. First, it
creates a pallet of colors that is compatible with a controlling color
that the designer defines. Second, it locates good, readable colors
for the text that is to overlay any given background color. We
believe that PP2 is the only program in the world that performs this
important function. PP2 is the result of considerable research which
allows the program to approximate the judgment of many sets of human
eyes.
The price is only $20, with substantial discounts for educators and
site licenses. Visit www.notesoft.com for more information.
