Greetings,
I am trying to disable the HTTP TRACE method in Apache.
For that I add the following configuration lines in httpd.conf
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %%{REQUEST_METHOD} ^TRACE
RewriteRule .* - [F]
After that I tried to check whether TRACE method is disabled or
not.
using the following commands.
telnet 172.16.16.25 80
Trying 172.16.16.25...
Connected to 172.16.16.25 (172.16.16.25).
Escape character is '^]'.
TRACE / HTTP/1.1
Host: 172.16.16.25

Hello,
I'm willing to find a package which is similar with OPIE for Linux.
However, I download the opie 2.4 source package I can't compile
successfully. So it there any suitable opie packages?
Source packages and RPM are both okay. My Linux is RHEL 3.
Thank you very much~
Regards,
Amy Lee

Hi all,
Is there any API to collect some unique IDs (such as CPU id, harddisk id,
SKU, etc) from the system w/o running the final software as root?
I've looked into dmidecode.c but it is unable to read /dev/mem without the
root account. Going further, demicode cannot be run even if the user is
added to the kmem group. Is there anyway to get past this? I am using
Ubuntu 7.10
Thanks and best rgds,
Alex

Per a request from one of our users that just bought an Eee PC, I
downloaded and installed the Cisco VPN client for Linux ( 4.8.01.0640 is
the current version). Before doing the work on the Eee PC, I downloaded a
trial of Xandros Desktop Pro 4.2, installed it on an older Pentium III
Dell w/ 256MB RAM, installed the kernel source and GCC, and ran the
installer. I already have a PCF file from the OS X and Win32 installers
I've built and that worked perfectly. What I'm wondering now is, since
this is a CLI only client, has anyone tried any of the various GUI
add-ons, esp. on Xandros, another Debian based distro, or the Eee PC's
custom Xandros build?
The first one I'm considering is KVpnc: http://home.gna.org/kvpnc
I'd also like to try a Gnome tool at home on my openSUSE box but it looks
like gvpn-dialer is a bit out of date. Is it still viable? Are there any
others I should look at? I don't mind compiling from source but having
RPMs or .debs are nice, too.
Much thanks,
Gary

hi...
i'm trying to create a centos 5.1 router that will in the futre
function as a web server and smb server , and in the mean time it
should allow access to local subnet. as well as 2 pc with file share
emule etc..
the thing i don't want to create a generic rule for all the local lan
allowing all ports and all protocols to pass thorugh, i'm also
wondering about any switch about established related stuff i should
harden, any ideas how to improve this?
also if i'm forwarding in/out packets of certain ports to pc's inside
the subnet, do i have to give them access in input ouput chain as
well?
#!/bin/sh
#iptables script, generated from iptables-save file
IPT='/sbin/iptables'

Hello friends,
SafeSquid, Linux based Content Filtering Internet Proxy, has
released Version 4.2.2.RC7.There has been enhancements related to
memory management, reporting, logging of IPs along with username,
plug-in for Sawmill Log Analyzer and other minor bug fixes.
Check 'Changelog' on the SafeSquid Forum for details.
They have also started with low cost service plans for those who
would like to deploy SafeSquid, but have technical / time constraints.
Check the 'Download' section for details.
Regards.

Hi,
Is it possible to logging/monitoring the activity of an user-account
on Linux ??
We are looking into using the command script to build up a monitoring
tool, but it seems like if you are having a little knowledge about
Linux you can get a workaround of the command and delete the log.
Best regards
Tom
