I care about usability because usability is what makes the difference
between great products and mediocre products. I pay attention, close
attention, to what works and more importantly what is it about the
software/product that make it work well. I don't have access to the millions
that companies like IBM, Microsoft and Apple spend running usability studies
so by paying careful attention I can learn from them. And what I learn
enables me to create better software myself which helps me in the long run.
