"Linux crashes, a lot. Many applications don't always work. I spend far more
time keeping Linux going than I ever did with Windows."

OpenSuse 10.3: "I installed suse on my computer a few weeks ago, and I can't
get the usb ports working. No matter what I plug in (ex. mp3 player,
printer, webcam) first the computer slows down and finally freezes, also it
doesn't recognises them..."

Ubuntu: "I installed ubuntu and it does the same thing... I wonder if it's a
hardware problem...and if it is, than why doesn't windows affected by it?"

Same machine, same user, two different Linux distros fail on USB, but no
problem with XP.

Linux just works!

"Sun Microsystems (JAVA) reported a nightmare quarter, elicited more cold
Java analogies than I can count and announced layoffs due to a weak economy.

Can open source move the needle at Sun and spark some growth? In a word:
No."

| Frankly, even Microsoft could use this model - as Marc Fleury pointed out to
| me earlier this week - without skipping a beat. It could adopt Red Hat's
| model tomorrow without sacrificing its billions in profit. If anything, it
| should grow with a model that focuses on widespread, cheap distribution.

They use propaganda words like "protected" and "unprotected" in this article.
Sony is among the last ones to hammer a nail on the music DRM coffin, leaving
the RIAA very disappointed.

The latest fight (Defective by Design) is against DRM at libraries.

Digium CEO Discusses Open-Source Balancing Act

,----[ Quote ]
| AsteriskNow really is a version of Asterisk that has a graphical user
| interface available in it. The GUI in AsteriskNow is not the same one
| available in Switchvox, and Switchvox doesn't take advantage of the GUI that
| is available in AsteriskNow. If you think of AsteriskNow as a project, as
| opposed to a product, it is an available distribution that reduces the
| technical skill that is required for an end user to utilize Asterisk. It is
| distributed on an RPath foundation, so that you don’t have to be such a Linux
| expert, and it has pretty easy setup and a GUI, and it has a basis from which
| you could do enhancements through scripting and could maybe more easily
| integrate with other applications.
