Novell, The Eight Hundred Pound Penguin

,----[ Quote ]
| Interestingly, according to Masie, after realizing that they
| couldn't open-source Netware, Novell apparently considered
| acquiring Red Hat at the time, as well as the possibility of
| forking Slackware before deciding to acquire Ximian, and
| subsequently SUSE.
|
| [...]
|
| It is also very interesting that, although the main role of Nat
| Friedman and Miguel De Icaza is ensuring that Novell behave
| properly within the community, they were only briefed within
| the last week before the announcement about the Microsoft deal.

Yankee Group, IDC, Gartner... all 'owned' by Microsoft.

Just head over to MicrosoftWatch and see how, ever since Mary Jo Foley left
to join ZDNet, A Jupiter Research analyst (among others) have begun tapping
Microsoft on the shoulder, even rebutting articles (published elsewhere)
that doubt Microsoft.

Some time ago when they had an Editor/contributer who was also familiar with
FOSS the readers complained. To them, everyone (including professional
blogs) must cherish Microsoft.
