I'd suggest Xubuntu(a derivative of the Ubuntu another guy suggested)
for this laptop, and Damn Small for the older ones. Xubuntu has very
few driver issues, as does its parent, an easy installer, a good
program installer, the works. Damn Small's primary strength is just ...

Wasn't it 2000 pages when initially submitted, and grew to 6000 as the
other members of the committee asked for parts to be expanded and for
more detail to be added?

I'd have to look, but it's probably America-centric.
One of them is TRW, if I'm not mistaken.

I am in a wait-and-see mode. The Microsoft-Novell agreement has created
considerable controversy. It has some wondering when "extinguish" will be
implemented, seeing "embrace and extend" have already been accomplished.
