cut & paste in X win

Author: nobody
Date: Sep 18, 2008 12:43

Running opensuse 11.0 x86-64 & alpine 2.00: I find that I cannot do a
copy & paste in X as in Pine; & don't think that it is a xwin problem
as I can use the mouse to highlight the words, copy & paste onto the
browser.

Alpine 2.0 evidently won't allow the use of the mouse to highlight an
area for copying; there is a "copy" in the dropdown but no selection
to mark the area/zone for copying.

Copy & paste is a basic need as when the vendor say that an item is
shipped, & the tracking-id is provided, I used to highlight the
track-id & paste it onto the ups website to get the shipping details
of the said item.

Did I miss a config somewhere? The highlighting does work outside of
alpine....

  Any customized dot pinerc?

Author: Wei Weng

Hi all.

I am a customization junkie, I try to theme as many application as I
can. (And make them look good too)

Is there anyone who is into the same stuff as I am? I googled, but
don't find any good site with collections of good looking dot pinercs.

Thanks
Wei

PC Alpine cannot see the mail server

Author: loninappleton

I'm still having problems with setting up the latest PC Alpine
available.

Any tips on putting up an older version without going back as far as
DOS?

The error given is for an insecure mail server which occurs during
installation, so using setup > config is not possible.

My isp has given me the server settings, but pine cannot see the
connection I use everyday with webmail.

alpine 2.0; problem with role selection (#)

Author: Erik Quaeghebeur
Date: Sep 16, 2008 13:54

Hi,

I just noticed that role selection with # for replying does not work
anymore for me with my build of alpine 2.0: I get the action (reply,
bounce,...) and role selection menus, but the actual composition still has
the same role as it would without the #, i.e., the default one or the
mailbox specific one.

Has anyone else encountered this?
I consider it possible that it has to do with my local config/build
(gentoo bugzilla ebuild with all-chappa and perhaps some other patches),
but this is the first place to check.

  display unencoded umlaut-characters in subject-header

Author: Holger Marzen

Hi all,

some mail frontends don't declare umlaut characters in the subject
header, e.g. microsoft outlook. Alpine (Linux) then displays a question
mark. Can alpine be set up to display those characters?

I'm puzzled, what does 'R' signify in the status column in the index
page, alpine 2. ?

  Remote mouse??

Author: Beartooth
Date: Sep 5, 2008 14:07

I'm most of the way through the throes of getting my main email
account (*not* this one that I post from) shifted over from where it was
to a domain of my own, still hosted by my remote ISP.

Years ago, that kind host did something to make enable-mouse-in-
xterm work, even though I ran the old account (and am running the new)
under ssh, using a gnome-terminal under Fedora. (He also runs Fedora.)

[X] Enable-mouse-in-xterm is still checked in the new Alpine
configuration -- but it no longer works.

I find this an invaluable tweak, which my fingers have long since
adopted without requiring conscious attention. So now, of course, suddenly
I'm stumbling constantly in all directions with everything I try to write.

My host has long since forgotten how he made it work, and I never
really understood in the first place.

Can someone here tell us?

  Failed to install Alpine 2.00

Author: jr.wilson7

Hello,

I've got Alpine 1.00 installed on my system, and would like to upgrade
to the newer 2.00 version. Downloaded the .DEB package and it would
not install because a dependency is not satisfiable: libldap2.
Checking the Adept Manager (I run Kubuntu 8.04), I found that this
wasn't installed on my system. So, I got it installed. I still can't
install Alpine 2.00. Any ideas as to what's happening?

Thank you!
Jason
