  alpine: importing mail

Is there any doc/howto import mail from other mail apps?

I dearly would like to be able to import my mozilla thunderbird mail that
I need to keep & have them accessible & readable via alpine. Could I just
create a folder & just copy the tbird mail into the folder even tho the
mail is in individual files?

Alpine 1.10: Index Date display question.

Author: rmushtaq

In one of the email in my InBox, the Date/Time stamp on the actual
email header shows as:

Date: Sat, 29 Mar 2008 12:10:17 +0530

But when I view this message in the message index itself, it shows up
as "Yesterday":

1 Yesterday (14K) RE: 2 questions <---- !!!!***

In the Alpine config I do have the following option enabled:

[X] Convert Dates To Localtime

Is the above behaviour due to the fact that I have enabled "Convert
Dates To Localtime"?. If not, is there any way to fix this?

Thanks

The following should do it for you.

; a (this will select all messages)
a * ! n (this will apply a flag of not-read to all of the selected
messages)

Let us know if this does not work.

alpine: don't ask "Save the 1 read message in..."

Author: Holger Marzen

Hi all,

when I quit alpine (Linux) after having read an email it asks questions
like

Save the 1 read message in "{imap/user=hm}INBOX.done.read"?

I want to keep the read message in the INBOX-folder until I manually
save it into the read-folder because I don't want to accidentally type
"y" and then forget the mail because it vanishes from INBOX. I don't
want to mark it as unread either.

Any ideas?

Alpine 1.10: How to search by attachment size?

Author: rmushtaq

Hello,

I searched the newsgroup but was not able find any relevant hits. Is
there any way to Search the INBOX based on the file attachment size?.
For example, I want to search INBOX and then zoom to see all emails
that have attachment size say 3MB and under or something similar?. The
string search works great, but I could not find this feature in
Alpine. Or, if there's any way to do this via Sorting of INBOX based
on the file attachment size, that would work too. This would be
similar to what you can do in the GUI based email clients like
Thunderbird where clicking on any INBOX columns, sorts the whole
folder automatically by that format.

Thanks

  Character set issues

Author: Chris Game

Well, in spite of the new version of PC-Alpine now having a setting
for 'Unknown Character Set' this appears to have no effect on mail
with no declared charset, but with characters outside the US-ASCII
range. There's an impressive range of sets available in the setup
screen (hit 'T' at the change contents prompt), even setting to e.g.
big5 let alone ISO-8859-1, makes no appreciable difference - smart
quotes and so on are still displayed as '?'.

Any thoughts on what's going on here?

  Threading/zooming feature req

Author: Jan Engelhardt

Hi,

in a folder, switch to threaded mode, select some mails -- at best,
complete/whole threads -- collapse the view, then zoom.

K H ; T P mailinglist@something.com { Z

This will expand all threads that have been selected, which is not quite
what I would have expected. I do not see a config option to change this
behavior, so I would appreciate it if it was added.
