Dear Functional Big Brains,

What has happened to the "Strand" language?

I have a book sitting on my shelves that I very much enjoyed
reading, "Strand: New Concepts in Parallel Programming" by Ian Foster
and Stephen Taylor (Prentice Hall, 1990, ISBN 0-13-850587-X). It's also
back when really good text books weren't all written in Mandarin.

And what has happened to the spirit of that book? The wonderful
energizing drawings conveying concepts of parallelism throughout, that
encourage 10 year olds to pick it up?

And what is all this "sub-prime" jiberee joo? As far as I can see
it's a euphemism for "bad".

(I've just come back from a trip to Alpha Centuri.)

With kind regards,

Sandy
