At work, we pay about half a million dollar license fees to Cadence (per
year). We submit bug reports from time to time, but usually, they are
ignored. Another EDA CAD vendor (Mentor) even took our "perpetual" licenses
away (worth more than $100k) when the company was sold.
I find it more than mildly amusing that "only freeware systems can choose to
ignore criticism". My experience is the other way round: commercial
software developers choose to ignore criticism much more often than the
typical free software author; and this usually includes free software
that's done under a commercial environment (like GCC). I don't want to
include this generalization to MPE's or Forth Inc's offerings, because as
Forth vendors and small vendors, they can't afford to be that arrogant.
