Hi!
Forth gets aged and I assume the Forth programmers also get aged.
So my question: How old are you?
I know everybody here is proud about things he did 20 years ago with
Forth - me too: I think at that time I implemented my first Forth in
BASIC and Z80-hexcode-assembly for a Z9001 - see
http://www.homecomputermuseum.de/comp/111_de.htm
I'm now 33. And you?

Engineering is the art of making what you want from things you can get.

Well, it's nice to know there's someone under 50
here. I am now 67.
You were 13 when you built your first Forth?
Very good!

Yes, this was more by accident. There was a FIG-Forth module available
(or you could load it with another RAM-extension) for Z9001. I've seen
the module at another installation and it seemed with the low...

I'm 43. I was first exposed to Forth around 1978.
My guess is you'll find most of comp.lang.forth skews to the older
crowd. Younger programmers don't know about Forth, but not for the
reasons normally given here in comp.lang.forth. They don't know about
Forth because the primary domain of Forth is embedded systems, and most
programmers are not embedded systems programmers.
Yet, although most don't know Forth by name, if you explain the core
ideas behind Forth, most instantly can find parallels in other languages
they already use and appreciate what Forth is about. I've seen this
repeatedly in the job interviews I've conducted.
