THE PERFECT ARCHIVING TECHNIQUE FOR NOTES MAILBOXES | DominoNews
You can use a selective replication formula to archive a Notes mailbox. This
archiving solution for Notes mailboxes supports e-mail, calendar entries,
to-do items, iNotes/Web mail contacts, and the Delivery Option Advanced
Expiration date. It doesn't produce deletion stubs or white space like other
archiving solutions, which physically delete documents. Here are the steps
for setting it up:

LOTUS NOTES - DEFEAT THE 255 CHARACTER SPEADSHEET VIEW EXPORT LIMIT |
DominoNews
Notes users sometimes request to export Notes data for reporting purposes.
Views are usually the best starting point because you can export an existing
view or customize a view to display all the data required for the export.
Notes lets you export views using the Export menu option to three
support file
types: Lotus 1-2-3, Structured Text, and Tabular Text.

DOWNLOAD SAMPLE CODE: MESSAGE ICON V2 FOR LOTUS NOTES MAIL USERS | Lotus
Sandbox
The functionality allows a mail user creating a new email to select
which view
icon is displayed in the recipient's Lotus Notes Inbox. You can use this
code
to modify either your company's mail template or simply your own Lotus Notes
mailbox. It seems trivial, but it comes in handy when you want to draw
someone's attention to a particular message. The ZIP file contains a
form that
you need to paste into your mail database. You also need to create a form
action for the Memo, Reply, and Reply with History forms.

USING THE MESSAGE RECALL FEATURE IN IBM LOTUS NOTES AND DOMINO V8 |
Lotus developerWorks
You asked for it, and now with IBM Lotus Notes and Domino V8 you have the
ability to recall mail messages. Learn how the Message Recall feature works,
how to configure and control it, and how to deploy it. The ability to recall
mail messages is one of the most requested features for IBM Lotus Notes and
Domino V8. Enabled on the server and client by default, this new feature
lets
you recall mail messages that were sent in error. This article explains how
Message Recall works, discusses how it is configured and controlled, and
covers the finer points of planning and deploying the feature.

CHECK AOL MAIL USING LOTUS NOTES IMAP MAILBOX | DominoNews
Yes, it is actually possible to check your AOL Email using a Lotus Notes
mail
database which is directly connected to the AOL email servers. IBM markets
Lotus Notes as an enterprise-class messaging and collaboration solution, but
people sometimes forget that it can also be used as a stand-alone mail
client
that supports both POP3 and IMAP protocols. Most network administrators
realize that many employees might have AOL and other private mail accounts,
so they configure the firewall to block access to the AOL client ports
5190 -
5193, POP3 port 110, IMAP port 143 and WebMail URL addresses such as
webmail.aol.com, mail.yahoo.com, www.hotmail.com, etc.

CREATE YOUR OWN "OUT OF OFFICE" AGENT | DominoNews
The Out of Office function which ships with Lotus Notes defaults to run once
at 1:00 AM. The schedule and frequency can easily be modified by
changing the
mail template "OutOfOffice" LScript agent schedule which will affect all
mail
users the next time the Domino Design task runs. What do you do if a high
profile user requests to increase the notification frequency of the Out of
Office schedule only for a single mailbox ? You can either (1) Modify
the Out
of Office agent on the single mailbox and check the "Prohibit design refresh
or replace to modify" option, or (2) Create your own Out of Office agent
using
Formula language.

OFFLINE BENCHMARK RESULTS: DOMINO WEB ACCESS VS. NOTES REPLICATION |
DominoNews
This article contains the benchmark results of Lotus Domino Sync Manager 6.5
vs. Lotus Notes 6.5 local replication. Lotus Domino Sync Manager is a
Windows
client, not a web client which enables Domino Web Access (DWA) users to go
"Offline" which is similar to Notes local replication functionality.

FINDING AVAILABLE TIME IN IBM LOTUS NOTES V8 USING THE SCHEDULER UI |
Lotus developerWorks
Learn how the enhanced Scheduler user interface in IBM Lotus Notes V8 makes
the search for free time easier. IBM Lotus Notes V8 greatly improves the
user
experience, including its enhancements to the free-time lookup feature
on the
meeting invitation. In previous Lotus Notes releases, the Scheduler user
interface (UI) did not provide much flexibility. Lotus Notes V8,
however, lets
users select subsets of participants, thereby allowing them to focus on the
invitees who are most important or critical to the meeting.

Touchdown! Let the 'Madden' frenzy begin | CNN Tech
Say Madden this time of year and most everyone knows the reference is not

football series rushes its way annually to the top of the sales charts,

Far from 'The Jetsons,' air cars for commuters | CNET
This weekend I literally went riding over hill and dale in wine country to
find a members-only airfield where four flight teams were auditioning
for the
future role of "Honda sedan of the sky." The event was NASA's first Personal
Aircraft Vehicle (PAV) Challenge, a test of experimental small-seat
airplanes
with a prize purse of $250,000. The contestants all flew modified planes
(some
more so than others), including a home-built kit plane called the Vans RV-4,
two Slovenia-built sport planes, and a Cessna 172.

Kupat Holim Meuhedet Selects IBM DB2 Express for Patient Management
System | Yahoo Finance
IBM today announced that Kupat Holim Meuhedet, one of Israel's major
healthcare providers, has deployed DB2 Express 9 to enable its EasyMed
patient management system. EasyMed collects data from more than 1,200
servers
(supporting 2,300 doctors) and transmits this information to a centralized
server on a daily basis. Meuhedet chose DB2 Express over Oracle Lite in a
head-to-head competition after determining that their existing proprietary
database was unable to meet increasing usage demands. DB2 Express provided
them with a full-featured relational data server in a footprint that
could be
easily deployed to their customers.

IBM's Global Hold |Yahoo Finance
The tech giant's global integration strategy appears to be paying off: Every
division reported strong second-quarter growth -- On Feb. 5, 1924, Thomas
Watson Sr. changed the name of the company he ran from Computing-Tabulating-
Recording to International Business Machines. The change reflected Watson's
ambitions rather than reality. C-T-R operated only in the U.S. and
Canada. But
since the name change, IBM (IBM) has been at the forefront of each new
wave in
the globalization of business—from international to multinational, and
now to
the next new thing. For three years, IBM has been striving to become what it
calls a "globally integrated enterprise." Now, the strategy is finally
starting to click.
