RFID to track bottled gas in India | IBM
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Fortune 500 company that
refines and markets petroleum products in India, will use Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) to track liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from plant to
consumer. The $2.2 million project with IBM will center on HPCL's plant

Solid-state drive sets speed record | IBM
Engineers and researchers at the IBM Hursley development lab in England and
Almaden Research Center in California have set a record in storage speed,
outperforming the current rate by more than 250 percent. By combining Flash
solid-state technology and IBM's storage virtualization technology, the
researchers were able to transfer data at more than 1 million Input/Output
(I/O) per second.

The University of Toronto’s SciNet Consortium and IBM say they’ll build
Canada's most powerful and energy-efficient supercomputer. The machine is
expected to be among the top 20 fastest supercomputers in the world -- 30
times faster than Canada’s current largest research system. It will be
largest supercomputer outside the United States.
