Hi

That is just the case I found out also, I thought I was doing something
wrong, but apparently it was supposed to do so.. I haven't found any use for
these directory links yet in our environment.

The reason I had to change directoryname was that one of our departments
changed name and they wanted to see their folder with new name when they
open their databases from notes client.. The problem will be (for me..) that
if other departments find this out, they want their 'directories' to be
named with their new department names.. work work work for me ;o)

My real problem is, that our users are so.., how could I put this nicely...,
they lack of skill and they become illiterate (not native english) when any
messages pops up while using notes client, so I tried or wanted to try if I
can rename the folder or move databases to another folder with new name
without any error popups or messages..

We do use policies, but some of these databases are in use (acl also) with
special group gathered from allmost every department, that I would have to
make several explicit policies just to make sure that icons wouldn't appear
to people who aren't allowed to use database in question.

And, with this I'm not sure, isn't it so that I cannot clean users desktop
with policy? I mean even in cases if I totally move db to another
dominoserver, I can create the new icon for users, but even if I delete the
old icon from policy it won't delete it from users notes desktop or
bookmarks? We do allow our users to modify their own notes desktops.
