Lotus Notes is absolute CRAP!! (no followup notifications)

Our office was cursed with a switch-over from Outlook to Lotus Notes a
couple of weeks ago and every day brings to light new evidence that Lotus
Notes is a nightmarish, ill-conceived, memory-hogging piece of crap designed
by a group of sadistic, know-nothing idiots who couldn't even collaborate
well with one another.
The latest: the "Follow Up" feature does not follow up.
In my job, there are numerous accounts I'm not able to take action on until
funds have been received, cleared, and posted or until documentation has
been submitted. In Outlook I could flag an e-mail to be looked at again as
many days in the future and at any time of day I chose. When that date and
time arrived, I got a handy little-pop that brought it to my attention
again.
On the surface, it would appear that Lotus Notes has the same feature ---
hey, it even offers an option for an audible notification! Sweet!
Problem is, it doesn't work. For anyone.
IBM "Quality Engineers" seem to be stumped. This problem has an official
designation as SPR# NTER5RRTWV, and the "possible explanations" offered do
not lead to a solution. Take a look at:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=475&context=SSKTWP&q1=flag&q2=Follow...
Any Lotus Notes users out there who know how to make it work?
If so, please let me know.
Meanwhile, I'm going back to Post-Its for my follow-up reminders.
