Flickr is an image host. Flickr doesn't host good pictures or bad
pictures; they host whatever the subscriber uploads.
You will see more "bad" pictures on free image hosting services
because amateur photographers tend to use free services and pro
photographers tend to have their own domains. There are very, very
good amateurs, though. Not all are interested enough in sharing their
images to buy a domain.

Just found it and bookmarked it. I think I understand curves from a
technical point of view, but still don't really have a good gut feel of
what will happen when I tweak them. The images on his tutorial page
look useful in helping overcome that.

I have produced some myself (using CS3). As I think I mentioned
elsewhere, they are technically OK, but boring. I've only tried a half
dozen of them, so I figure the right subject will present itself
eventually. My initial shots were mostly to confirm that I understood
the mechanics, so that I could capture it properly when the right
subject presented itself.
