  Write protected brushes???

Author:

[Gimp-2.4.5 / OpenSuse-10.3]

Hello again,

I want to change the drawing angle of a brush but the
brush editor headline states "write protected". The brush
files on the hard drive are certainly fully read- and
writeable, though.

Clueless ....

  Organizing Brushes

[Gimp-2.4.5 / OpenSuse-10.3]

Hello all,

I want to use a lot of artistic brush sets in Gimp
which are currently separated in different folders,
loaded at startup. All brushes build a big heap in
the brushes dialog and thus it's hard to find the
right brush or switch between two brushes easily.

Is there a good way to organize brush sets within
Gimp for easier access and handling?

Regards,
Frank

How do I make this window stop opening automatically?

Author: End.of.an.Error.012009

Whenever I fire up the GIMP, a window titled "Layers, Channels, Paths,
Undo | Brushes, Patterns, Gradients" opens automatically, and I don't
want it to. This started happening recently, although I have not [that
I can recall] changed any of my preferences. I've looked through all of
the settings and cannot find anything that appears to refer to this
window. How do I make it stop opening?

I'm using 2.2.11 with GimpShop on Linux.

  smooth edges...

Author: ^AndreA^

Hello guys,

I'm doing some images for a website,
here is one: http://www.lesperimento.netsons.org/image/

As you can see, the left edge of the image (home.gif) is not smooth...
you can recognize each single pixel and it's not a very nice effect.

How can I have it smooth?

I've had a look to the semi-Flatten plugin ( http://docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-semiflatten.html
) but it doesn't work for me because the background is an image, not a
flat color...

The background I placed there is just an example...

any advice would be appreciated!

Andrea

  Simulate Two-Color-Print?

Author: Felix E. Klee

I want to transform a full color image into one that looks like it was
printed with three colors, e.g. black and blue, on a white background.
What's important: Gray should stay gray!

So, just using a CMYK color model and deactivating everything but,
say, Cyan and Black doesn't do the trick.

Any idea how to proceed?

  Need help with decomposing ...

Author: Paulo da Silva
Date: Aug 7, 2008 15:27

Hi!

A couple of years (+/-) ago, I used gimp to change a night photo into a
full blue one. I cannot remember how except that it was very simple.
I think I did something like decomposing the image into 3 images, each
one in its own color (red, green, and blue) and just picked the blue
one, but I am not sure. Now, I need to do the same for another photo and
I cannot do it. Everything I get is 3 gray images when I decompose into RGB!

Any help?

  Gimp Adjustment Layers ???

When using PS7 I found the adjustment layers proved very valuable.

Has anyone heard if Gimp has plans to include adjustment layers in the
near future?

  Version Improvements

Author: measekite

For users who upgraded from Gimp 2.2.x to 2.4.x and 2.5.x.

1. Do you think that the improvements were really dramatic and what new
improvements do you like the best and use the most?

2. Since printing (Linux version) is very heavily dependent on
Gutenprint it seems to be that unless there are dramatic advances in a
new version of Gutenprint (along with much improved printer drivers)
Gimp will be a total stepchild to Photoshop for a long time no matter
what improvements Gimp puts forth when it come to photographic uses. I
am interested in knowing others opinions.

3. Anybody know anything about a future version of Gutenprint and what
they have planned?

4. This question is about this ng itself. It seems that there are not
a great many posters like in many other ng. That seems to indicate
that either

Gimp it not all that popular

Most users do not know about this ng or need it

The majority of Gimp users do not post

The type of people that use Gimp are totally self sufficient and do
not need help.
