Greetings,
Please forgive me if this question has been asked before, however I
have just found this newsgroup.
I am creating an invoice for a small flower shop using FMP 9 Advanced.
In this invoice, I have your typical fields: Department (pop-up menu),
Qty, Price Ea, Tax, Extended Total.
What I would like to happen, is when the user chooses a taxable item
from the "Department" pop-up, the tax field automatically gets entered
with the correct tax rate. I have identified the taxable items in the
Value List simply as "(Tax)" eg : Fresh Flowers (Tax), but I have
not been able to figure out how to create a script that will
automatically fill in the tax (which is 5%%).
Any thoughts on the matter are much appreciated!

Hello, I've created a small DB in Flmk pro advacend, with a developer
solution so that it can run on any PC. The problem that I am facing
now is that, the data that appears each time I perform a find can be
edited. Which means, that the info stored in DB can be changed. I
would like this not to be possible! Is there any way?
Alberto.

In preview mode, I can see only half the screen. Any suggestions? I
have no problem printing the full width of the page though.
It's probably not a printer problem since I have the same problem on all
my printers.

I've got a text file and fmp file
The FMP file is filled w records identified by an id number. The cost
field in ea record is blank. I want to import cost data from the text
file. Each line in the text file begins w the correct id number of the
relevant record in the FMP file.
My thinking may be faulty, but it seems to me quite difficult to
ensure the data in the .txt file goes into the right records in the
FMP file.
Alternatively, it's simple. Can someone say which it is, and how to do
it ?

Hi,
Iām using FMP 9.0v3 on a Mac G4 using OS 10.4.11.
I just saw someoneās post about MP3s in FMP an iTunes, and so I
thought Iād ask post two questions Iāve had for a while.
First, I have about 1,000 MP3s stored in a database in a container
field called āsongā. I have since figured out that this makes for a
huge and sluggish FMP file. The file crashed on me and I couldnāt get
it open for a few months. (Parenthetically, how I got it open was to
move to FMP 9.)
So needless to say, I would now like to move the MP3s out of the
database, and then, just have file references in the āsongā field
rather than the actual file.
Does anyone have a script to do a batch export of the MP3s. And also,
does anyone have a script also a script to then do a batch re-import
of them as just file references?
My other question is, once I do those two things, I would love to have
a script that would export a found set of MP3s to an iTunes playlist.
Does anybody have something like this?

Hello,
I am trying to write an applescript which automatically launches
filemaker 8 and tells filemaker to open a remote file. I have isolated
the code to do this:
Tell application "FileMaker Pro"
activate
getURL "fmp7://user:pass@serverIP/Database Name"
end tell
I would like to add in some error detection to this script, so that if
the FM server or if another problem occurs when it tries to open the
database an admin gets alerted (email) to the issue. Can someone tell
me how I can do this in filemaker? Is there a good reference for all
FM8 applescript calls?
Thanks for all your help.
Deepti

I recently cloned a database that contained a portal. Went to the table
to which the portal linked and created a new field, then went back home
and tried to add that field in the portal. Field appeared on the layout,
but when I tried to drag it to a position in the portal it ended up
*under* the portal. Tried fiddling with "Bring to front" and "Send to
back." Can get the field to be in front of the portal, but it's still
not in it: move the portal and the field stays put.
I've solved some portal problems in the past by trashing and creating a
new portal. Tried that. A dialog comes up to select the fields you want
in the portal. When the portal appears, all those fields are there--but
they're not in the portal. Move the portal and they slide off. Move a
field and resize it, and when you let go it disappears under the portal.
I can still add fields to the portal in the original database.
What's going on here?

I have a couple of issues with producing labels within FM 9.3
(Windows).
1. The label size that I use (Avery L7160, 6.35x3.81 cm) is not
listed. Is there a way of obtaining additional label types for FM to
use?
2. Having set up the label using "custom measurements" (fiddly!), the
end product is OK in Preview mode, but when I save to PDF, the
positioning of the fields is wrong (top row of labels OK, but all
subsequent rows move slightly up the page, so that the bottom 2 rows
of labels miss the top of the label). It looks to me as though the
PDF has a slightly smaller font than when I print it directly from
Preview mode. Obviously the solution is to print from Preview, but I
need the users to be able to save label sets as PDFs.
Any ideas warmly received!
Dave.
