RESULT
comp.ai.nlang-know-rep will be removed

The Last Call for Comments (LCC) on 26 Oct 2006 initiated a five-day
period for final comments. Following the comment period, the Big-8
Management board has decided by consensus to remove the newsgroup
comp.ai.nlang-know-rep.

This group will be removed on 04 Nov 2006.

RATIONALE: remove comp.ai.nlang-know-rep

There have been no approved messages since May 1996. The newsgroup
was a gateway for the NL-KR Digest, and I can find no evidence of the
existence of the mailing list after May 1996. During the last few
months of activity for the group, several digests were posted to the
newsgroup in bunches about a month apart, possibly indicating a
problem maintaining the list.

The ftp web site on which an archive for the list was maintained
(sunnyside.com) is no longer accessible to the public, and attempts to
subscribe to the mailing list failed.

Much of the content of the mailing list was announcements of

posted to comp.ai. Other discussion may occur in the unmoderated

  Real world ontology applications

Author: acamposr
Date: Jul 31, 2006 16:12

Hello, I am looking for some information about how to use ontologies in
real world applications. At present I know how to create them and do
some reasoning like checking consistency...

But I would like to know how ontologies are really used then in an
application which needs a GUI, complex reasoning, several algorithms...
In other words, how (and what for) is usually an ontology used once
created? I am searching for your opinion or web references -articles,
real applications...

Thank you very much.
