I have been using Doc To Help for a few years for printed manual and .chm output. Some of our manuals go over 500 pages with complex tables and embedded graphics, but Doc To Help handles them well.
The conditional text feature is pretty straight forward and works as expected.
Their e-mail support turnaround time is pretty good, although some complex issues have taken a few days. But I've used the product long enough that I can devise workarounds when needed, and that is not that often.
I can't speak for their training courses, but you might want to look into those if help production or their product is completely new to you.

Word "collects" what you copy and its inventory can only store 12 items. You may need to clear out your clipboard. I think that every time Microsoft "improves" something it tries to add things to make intelligent users feel stupid.
Here is what Word says.
=======================
I can't copy additional items to the Office Clipboard.
You might have copied more than 12 items The Office Clipboard can hold up to 12 items. If you try to copy a thirteenth item when you're using a Microsoft Office program, a message asks if you want to discard the first item on the Office Clipboard and add the new item to the end of the clipboard. If you click OK, the next time you copy an item from any program, the Office Clipboard will automatically discard the first item and add the new item. If you click Cancel, any new items you copy won't be added to the Office Clipboard. You won't see the message again until you clear and then refill the Office Clipboard.
Note that the collected items remain on the Office Clipboard until you close all Office programs running on your computer.
You might have copied large items In this case, the Office Clipboard might hold fewer than 12 items. To begin copying items again, delete specific items from the Office Clipboard, or click Clear Clipboard on the Clipboard toolbar .
=======================
Lauren

Subject: copy and paste in Word 2003
Word 2003, XP
Sometimes (like under a deadline, like now... grrr) Word refuses to
copy and paste from one doc to another. The menu isn't grayed, it just
doen't work. Copy works, because I can copy text into Notepad and copy
back into the other doc.

Just before Christmas I was given a couple of hours to design a budget not
just for the "documentation" project but for the year's needs for
implementation of the complete quality management system.
I took two steps back and punted.
Made Item 1 a disclaimer that this budget did NOT address any salaries.
Essentially I created a Wish List for everything I knew would be needed as
well as everything I thought might be useful. My boss submitted this to his
boss without any changes.
It'll be interesting to see what (if anything) comes back from Corporate.
Everything has been in freeze mode waiting for the (now very late)
approvals.

You know, John, you're giving me an idea. How about if I create a mock
budget and people critique it? I would just take average figures -- the
point wouldn't be to ask people for their group's exact salaries, etc., data
which is always Top Secret anyway. The purpose of the exercise would mainly
be for me to get a grasp of the basics. Watch this space!

I don't think it's a weird request, just one that's hard to respond to.
Companies tend to be pretty close-mouthed about budgets and such, so real
numbers are almost impossible to pass along.

Try "eight c's" training (leaving out the "effective".) You get a few
apparently relavant hits. But I'd ask, too. I know, you don't want to look
dumb, but there are ways to ask that don't make you sound that way.
