Timothy,

I can second Ulrich's note & experiences. We have a few hundred
tn3270's w/ssl on a z/900 os1.4, with no noticeable performance impact.
We do have the cmos cryptographic processor available but even when it
is down or the card is offline, still nothing noticeable at all. Sorry
I don't have any numbers but our experience is that it works fine w/o
any noticeable impact on performance. With the client software we use,
the 1st session on the client box takes a few extra seconds to start-up,
but afterwards any additional sessions crank right up as normal.

Hth - regards,
Joe
