After reading that it was an Alabama Sheriff/Klansman who was directly
involved in beating those two black men to death (in the 60s) and tossing
their weighted down bodies in to the Miss river, I couldn't believe it. Then
again, something like the legacy of hate and intolerance is something hard
to shake. I guess that's why some proudly fly their confederate flags, and
why others where pointed little white sheets draped over their pointy little
heads. chuck

I have no problem whatsoever with the Confederate flag.

Me neither, for two reasons. One, I believe in freedom of speech. Two, I
like the way it identifies a-hole racists right up front, that way I don't
have to waste any undue time in getting as far as away from them as
possible. I'd betcha big money, if either one of us had it, that the
Alabama deputy who was just arrested for those '60s murder had a Confederate
flag hanging somewhere in his house, and was proud of it. chuck

While I agree with that the "rebel" flag is offensive because of the
racial connotations historically associated with it by racists, it does
mean something different to some folks. Many view it as a symbol for
"Southern." And many bikers view it as a symbol of independence and
rebellion. But then some folks probably think getting the finger means
they are number one too. I think the bad connotations outweigh any
others. But the flag does not always represent racism.

That said, there was a "blues" club in this area that had the flag
flying out front. They catered to the biker crowd. The owner had her own
blues band and the band t-shirt also featured the flag prominently. Some
folks just don't get it I guess. The bar closed years ago and I think
the band is defunct also.

On a trivia note, the "rebel" flag was not the flag of the Confederacy.
What most people view as the "rebel" flag was actually the Navy Jack.

there was an incident a couple of months ago where someone used a skull and cross bones for some sort of advertising icon (i don't recall the product now) then someone wrote in and said that was a Nazis symbol (Hitler's SS had it on their helmets and hats) so the company quickly apologized and withdrew the symbol.
Well as it happens i'm into archeology as one of my interest and it seems that the Nazi's and Hitler were big on the occult and supernatural...they actually believed in it's power and thought it could help them advance their agenda's. So early on Hitler had sent agents all over the world looking for artifacts and symbols to bolster their power. One such group was up in Nepal where all sorts of mystical shit is supposed to be and they found this skull/cross bones symbol that was...
