Dear Fellow Blues Fans:
I hope this doesn't take too much of anyone's time,
but I have something I believe needs to be said to the
blues community.
My name is Jeremy Loome, and I am a 37-year-old
Canadian from Edmonton. Some of you, performers in
particular, may know Edmonton well from playing the
Edmonton Labatt Blues Fest or Blues on Whyte and the
Yardbird Suite.
The city has a long history of supporting the blues
and
is home to in excess of two dozen good blues acts.

D.C. Minner expired around 9:30 pm last nite (Tuesday May 6th).
DC and Selby have hosted the Dusk til Down Blues Fest in Rentiesville, Oklahoma every Labor Day Weekend for years in their backyard.
It was always one of my favorite small town fests and goes for 3 days from 5pm til 5am in the morn..hence ...dusk til dawn.
He has been sick the last couple of years, and passed last night while at home with his wife, Selby.
R.I.P. DC
Godspeed

My local CD sales guy sent me a message a few weeks ago that Michael had a
new CD coming out. I would be curious to learn more about it. What do other
Zellers think?
Thanks,
Redneck Roy

Until Howard Schultz (CEO of Starbucks) starts singing the blues?(and he
might just do that given the current SBUX stock price), haven't we had enough of
the coffee debate?? I appreciated Chuck's email about how Starbucks is going
to stop selling music, given that they have released some bluesy albums on
their Hear Music label including one named after XM's Bluesville station.?
However, most of this thread has been about coffee and not music at all, let
alone the Blues.
For some blues content,?here's?a new thread for you - I?haven't had a chance
to hear?Michael Burks' new CD yet.? Have you?? What did you think?

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Rocker Neil Young plans to release
his entire music archive on Blu-ray discs, a sign that the discs'
capabilities are building appeal among musicians as well as movie studios.
Most of the Blu-ray discs manufactured so far have been used for
high-definition movies.
Blu-ray discs hold much more data than DVDs, are easily updated over the
Internet and offer better picture and sound quality.
Young revealed his plans Tuesday at a Sun Microsystems Inc. conference
in San Francisco.
Santa Clara-based Sun makes the Java technology that gives Blu-ray discs
their interactive menus and ability to accept updates over an Internet
connection.
The first installment of Young's archive will cover the years 1963 to
1972 and will be released as a 10-disc set this fall on Reprise/Warner
Bros. Records.
Young said the archives will be released chronologically and include
some previously unreleased songs, videos, handwritten manuscripts and
other memorabilia, in addition to the high-resolution audio that Blu-ray
technology is known for.
