It was titled "Delta Blues 911!" released in 1992. A&E sounds correct.

That was nice. I remember seeing a documentary (on A & E or Bravo, I
believe) about the Delta Blues Festival that had a segment with Albert doing
"As the Years Go Passing By" with, I think, Issac Hayes on B-3. I believe
the title was something like "Delta 9-1-1". I have searched for it on
Google and Amazon with no luck. Anyone else recall seeing it? Anyone know
if it was ever released on video or DVD?

Re: Junior Parker - Happy Birthday today

Absolutely. If I had to name my 5 favorite blues artists of all time,
he'd definitely be one of the 5. Loved, just loved, the way he'd play
those downhome country harmonica blues licks on songs with those
sophisticated Joe Scott arrangements (on his Duke recordings). Frankly,
I love everything he recorded before and after his Duke years as well -
his seminal early Sun records, his later funk/soul/blues on
Mercury/Blue-Rock and other labels, including recordings live at the
Golden Slipper, Newark NJ (if memory serves me). Love his voice, his
style, his songs, just love everything about the guy!!!!
-- Steve Hoffman
p.s. In fact, I'll a few cuts of his on my radio show tomorrow
(Wednesday May 28, 12 noon to 1 pm Eastern time, http://www.wpfw.org,

  David Gahr

Author: Dick Waterman
Date: May 27, 2008 10:40

David Gahr died a few days ago at the age of 86 and the world is never going to be quite a same without him.

He was not only the greatest photographers that folk music and blues has ever known, he was an unworldly rascal, a nattering scold and a crusty thorn in the side of humanity.

He would deny it to the end but he was also kind beyond belief, protective of his friends and the most generous and guiding photographer that ever brought a camera up to eye level.

When Robert Shelton wrote "Faces of Folk Music," David had over 500 images in the book and that was over 40 years ago! He has continued to work over the decades including racing from stage to stage to cover New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival under a broiling sun.

I won't even begin to describe some of his memorable images because I would mention one and then forget fifty others just as great.

It was a joy to work in the pit with Dave. I learn manners and thoughtfulness from him. He never rose from a crouching position without looking behind him to make certain that he wasn't 't going to spoil someone's shot.

Nowadays digital cameras make it possible to bang off hundreds of shots and then delete delete delete.

David Gahr was a craftsman for whom every shot was going to be his best one.

Junior Parker - Happy Birthday today

Author: Chas Lewis
Date: May 27, 2008 09:18

Most sources (though not all) cite today as Junior Parker's birthday.

He was a true original, with a style that eclipses just about anyone for
laid back, smooth delivery when that's what the song called for. (Check out
"Strange Things Happening" or "It's a Pity")

One of the greats and a personal favorite who died W A Y too young.

If a Blues band plays and there's no one around to hear it...

Looks/sounds like Mr Earl hasn't lost a thing...glad to see he's back, and
has a new record on the way soon (Stony Plain).

So, you say there's nothing new or original
with the blues these days. Not so, and TEE
(Marc Thijs can prove it).
Here he is doing "Feel So Bad"

And a special treat for hardcore TEE fans, here's an obscure video
