NBC: Cute Merchandise Clerk for hire ...

Author: Eric Paul-Hus

Bon Matin,

A young woman I know is now living in the Los Angeles area working fir a
music studio. She's a College Creative Arts graduate and she supplements her
income in part with manning or helping at merchandise booth on either an
upfront fee or a fee + commission . The word I got back is that she's pretty
good at the trade . She is mainly involved with punk rock and the
alternative rock scene professionally but tend to anything when it comes to
sell T-Shirts, posters, CDs or ball caps .

She also does photography although I can't say for sure if she continued her
budding career as an Punk Rock action shot specialists . But I'm sure she
would consider any paying gig .

Maybe if she get to work with Blues oriented bands, she'll fall in love with
Blues itself (J ) ! . We need all the converts we can get J

You can reach her via Annick_Eve@Hotmail.com

So if you are a merchandiser needing someone to be at a booth at a Festival
, or a band on a mini-tour of So-Cal or in the LA Area and would like
someone to sell your CD and wares during a "big crowd" set, don't hesitate
to contact her .

As a reference, I am giving you her photo site http://www.Annick-eve.com

Just ordered a Kindle from Amazon for my wife instead of Sony Reader. I buy very few cds or dvds
at stores. Actually most of my cd purchases are from JazzLoft, bluebeatmusic or Louisiana Music
Factory, specialty stores, although I do buy from Amazon.

I was often called a "Blues Nazi" (I believe Debbie Davies coined the
term) when I was doing a blues radio show and netcast back in the 90's.

I wore the label with honor.

There is more to being a blues "artist" than using blues songs as the
medium to convey an over-the-top guitar solo.

I don't know about anyone else, but to me, if the vocalist isn't
authentic, the rest doesn't matter. I'll take Bobby Bland or Big Voice
Odom over a guitar wanker any day of the week.

I'm not sure who coined another phrase, but I believe in it ... "It's not
how many notes or how loud you play them ... its HOW you play 'em".

JMHO.

I hadn't heard about Bobbys problems ... and we had spoken recently ...

Hopefully he steps back into his usual funky form ... we have him booked
here in Kalamazoo at the 411 Club the night before his Chicago Blues
Festival show in June.

Ever since I first heard Curtis Salgado sing "Salt In My Wounds" (off his More Than You Can Chew release) and then finally live, I've dug him as a soulful, gritty vocalist, but then some of his other recorded stuff wasn't gettin' it for me either. I do have a CD I've really enjoyed often over the years called Hit It N Quit It (1997) with Salgado and talented NW guitarist Terry Robb and some other players. This more acoustic edged CD has some real solid gems and I recommend it.

BTW, I'm gonna miss y'all at the BMA's... waaah! Can't believe I'm not going. But feel blessed I've got gigs and do hafta pay da bills... oh that!

It seems like the 2 times that I saw him he was singing with Roomful Of
Blues back in the early 90s, and I liked him a lot. Later on I listened to a
couple of the records under his own name, and while not bad, they didn't do
as much for me. chuck
