Author: O'Mahony, Catherine
Date: May 21, 2008 03:26

The Agricultural Biotechnology International Conference is returning to
Europe this August and will be hosted by University College Cork in
Cork, Ireland. The annual ABIC conference brings many of the world's
largest agriculture, fisheries and food biotechnology companies to the
host country (many Fortune 500 companies) and this year is no exception.

At ABIC 2008 in Cork, there will be many hot topics under discussion and
debate including innovations in areas such as biofuels and bioenergy,
animal and plant breeding, fisheries biotech, molecular pharming, dairy
and food, including dedicated sessions on policy, regulatory affairs and
business strategies. Registration for the conference has now opened and
full details of ABIC 2008 are available on the conference website.

Re: [Plant-biology] DNA and protein extraction
I have not done DNA extraction from okra but I have encountered similar
problem in some plant samples. Our lab use a DNA extraction kit and it is
very nice. I hope the kit may help you too.

  Oxygen to plant roots

Author: CRB
Date: May 19, 2008 16:29

I find your web site on Oxygen to plant roots of interest. Have you
any thoughts on the effects of hydrogen gas H2 or just the hydrogen
atom itself could have on the plants growth factor? This may seem an
unusual question - however, I have developed a process to dissociate
water into these individual components. This is not the conventual
electrolysis process.

invitation to submit plant cell biology images and videos to ASCB Image & Video Library

Author: David Ennist
Date: May 12, 2008 10:11

All,

I would like to invite you to submit cell biology images and videos to
the Image & Video Library of the American Society for Cell Biology. I
know that people such as yourself come across a number of stunning
images that don't get published - this is an attempt to share these
images with a wider audience. We also welcome submissions from
students and staff.

Have a look at our holdings: http://cellimages.ascb.org and follow
the
link under "Submit Resources" to set up an account and make your
submissions. They will be reviewed by a member of our Editorial Board
(Kerry Bloom, Univ North Carolina, Chapel Hill is our Editor-in
Chief).

We're currently developing a website called CellBASE with resources
targeted at more defined topics, including a set of microscopy links -
we're still building the content, but you can have a look at
http://cellbase.ascb.org .

I'm looking forward to your submissions! Please feel free to email or
call if you have any questions.
