Actually the Coast Guard response to Katrina
was one of the most professional and effective
aspects of gov't actions.

As always, in hindsight there are (were) some tweaks
that could have been helpful, but the Coasties
got a solid A plus for their work.

Not at all saying the Coasties did a bad job (one crew was almost up on
charges for doing a better job) but the fact remains they were literally
flying on empty and had to pick and chose which missions to take.

Spike Lee fan, eh.

Katrina, lies and videotape
By Star Parker
Monday, August 28, 2006

Spike Lee took his cameras and crew to New Orleans to film a
documentary about Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. The four-hour
production, which aired on HBO, is, unfortunately, about as
destructive as was the disaster it depicts.

At a time when we need light and understanding, Lee has delivered
darkness, anger and hatred. Those who will be hurt the most by the
distorted and untruthful picture that Lee has concocted are the poor
blacks he purports to want to help.

Spike Lee is a racist and a trouble maker, deliberately stirring
up hatred.

| Spike Lee fan, eh.

Don't know Spike Lee from Adams's house cat.

I do know what happened on the ground and a lot more about the events behind
what happened.

As example there is a lot made about the school busses. Not much is made of
the fact that the drivers left town with the rest of those who had
transport.

But be that as it may there were hard and genuine offers to get supplies
into the city that were workable and immediately available and FEMA blocked
the efforts.

You had your eyes closed when the "victims" were taking potshots with
rifles at their rescuers as they descended from helicopters.
