Anyone had experience with them?

The two that look promising at the moment are TP22 (simrad) and st2000
(raymarine)
Any experiences, not forgetting it's for a H28- 6 ton full keel ketch.

  Shifting from Gold Coast to Hobart

I'm going to need to move Tropic Bird-

H28, 28ft wooden ketch ~6 ton

from the Gold Coast to Hobart sometime in the next few months. A while
ago I asked for an indicative quote from a specialist company and they
came back with 20K- I assume they don't want the job.

The options I can see are:
-Find someone who does want the job hopefully for less than 20K
-Coastal deck cargo- is there such a thing now?
-Professional crew with me as decky
-Do it myself
The last option has the most appeal if I had the time to do it safely.
I'd be quite happy taking my time and coasting but I'm a bit daunted by
the logistics and haven't really any idea at all how long it'd take.

Comments and suggestions? And selling her before we go isn't an option.

While satellites won't be listening out for them, won't aircraft still be
monitoring these frequencies?

  boats boats boats

Hi all,
It's that time again; let us all lock heads and examine another
potential next boat for me ;)

This time, a 50' timber boat, ostensibly being sold at a cheap price
due to divorce. Was sold last week for a total of $14,600 (!) with a
working 65 hp perkins diesel and supposedly good sail plus a fresh
antifoul. Bargain. Here's the original link;

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/50-Timber-Yacht-Divorce-Must-Sell-1-No-Reserve_W0QQitemZ2...

Relisted now, no reason given excepet auction 'fell through'.
Relisted with slightly different info and different pictures, now has
$10k with 5 days to go. Here's the new listing;

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250273729666&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType...#ebayphotohosting

If it went again for 15k, i could manage it though my partner would be
pretty unhappy with me. I've got about 30 sitting in the bank but
promised her I'd spend less than 10. Maybe we can just keep that a
secret.

Opinions?

  another ebay vanderstadt

Hi All,
In mynever ending quest for the perfect cheap yacht that will answer
all my dreams, i have found this;

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Sailing-Boat-Yacht-31ft_W0QQitemZ280233612798QQihZ018QQca...

Not thinking very seriously on this one, but does seem cheap (though
probably for good reason!). A Vanderstadt 31, was sold on ebay then
the sale fell through, the seller has relisted for $1,000 but this
time with a buy it now of $1,125!

looks to be in fairly poor condition with no real equipment, no motor,
and probably very poor sails. I dont think this boat would make
sydney to melbourne without some work. opinions?

  Website with Names spelled out in Nautical Flags

NameNum.com is a website that gives free numerology reports for first
names, last names, and full names - all of which is probably of
somewhat limited use to this group.

However, every report also includes the name spelled out with natical
flags, which this group might just enjoy.

the site:

sample of numerology and nautical flags for a famous sailor, James

  John jefferies has sadly passed away

~~~ Maritime - Sacred to their Memory ~~~
John Jefferies (JJ) was probably the only man in the world who could name
the Masters and Mariners of pre- and post- war yachting history, including
The America's Cup, and his life-long maritime collection is of utmost
historical value. Being the son of a Mariner who helped in crewing some of
the largest yachts in the world, JJ has a lifetime's yachting experience to
his credit.
Although John recently passed away his book is still available via his
website www.jjmaritime.co.uk .
The book is a Maritime history of world-famous yachts which names all the
crew members, nation-wide, who were known to JJ throughout his lifetime. It
is a tribute to the memory of the Masters, Navigators and the sailor-men of
England who made up the crewmembers. Pages of memories and anecdotes, moving
and humorous, make compelling reading, particularly to those deeply
interested in the history of yachting and seafaring.
