Saw one on the road today, trade plates heading for Ford at Strathpine.
It had G6E badge on the back.
The side reminded me of the Commodore, however the front and back has been
attacked with the Asian "Ugly Stick". The lights front and rear look
uglier than in the photos.

Why more 17& 18 inch wheels on new vehicles

Author: Pit
Date: May 9, 2008 19:15

Just doing some tyre kicking and notice a lot more vehicles now
coming out with 17 & 18 inch tyre sizes .

In reality what are the advantages over 16 inch .Which have a lot less
orphan sizes and far cheaper to run .
$98.00 for decent safe 16 inch tyre against $259 for 17 inch

going through 2 or 3 full sets of tyres a year this all adds up .

Serious question based on tyre size ignorance .

  Speed Camera Fine/NSW-wrong Driver?HELP!

Author: larstetens
Date: May 9, 2008 16:08

I got a penalty notice from NSW OSR regarding a speed camera fine for a
speed offense that occurred when I was out of the country-I wasn't the
driver (out of country). But as I am the registered owner-I got the
bloody fine. I narrowed it down to 2 mates who were driving the car
when visiting from America-SO WHAT do I do?

I've never had a speed fine(not perfect-just lucky I reckon). I'm
supposed to fill out that "stat-dec"-to say I wasn't driving the
car-which is not the issue/problem (obvious-I wasn't in the country).
But I can't get either my two mates to cop to "who was driving"...So I
have no way of 100%%/Dead set identifying "who" was actually driving the
car-and the pic according to the OSR doesn't reveal that. Furthermore I
don't have these blokes "drivers license numbers"?? How am I supposed to
sign that statutory declaration form? I know I wasn't the driver-but I
have no idea at the end of the day WHO was actually driving the car at
the exact moment of the fine-and NSW OSR doesn't really offer any help
either.

Thailand buit Toyotas like Hilux & Corolla - Don'y buy !

Author: ausmartin
Date: May 9, 2008 14:08

Why, Thailand suppurts the Burmese Junta with massive Financal
investment.
So For every vehicle they sell, the purchaser is supporting the death
of an innocent Burmese citizens right now.

Demand Toyota source somewhere else. It's not ethical.
Plus the fact that Australia has signed a free trade agreement with
Thailand and suprise !
It's all one way - the Thailand way. Goauto news had a interesting
article on it.

Ford / Mazda also make utes there I believe,
Screw Thailand before they screw the world like Myanmar (Burma).

Now the world will just sit back & watch innocent Burmese drop dead.

Any other vehicles we import from Thailand that people should not
buy ?
Please tell.

  The bicycle crash

Author: F Murtz
Date: May 9, 2008 06:27

Was this road lane a bicycle lane, a road lane, or a breakdown lane? I
have heard all three.
According to the person that was driving the car when he pulled in front
of the bicycles his newly fitted gas had run out and he was changing to
petrol the car had backfired and was spluttering he put on his hazzard
lights and stopped some bikes passed and then some ran into him.
I dont think he has been charged yet
[He was interviewed on the radio today]
So we all seem to be talking about something about which we have not the
foggiest
