A true story.
A website set up for people who suffer from epilepsy has been hacked;
all the links on the site proclaiming to direct users to info on
dealing with the condition instead direct them to websites that strobe
and flash madly..........

Honest, I'm trying not to laugh 8-D

  Theftlink?

Here's a beauty.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23661161-5000117,00.html

It refers to the soon to be opened Eastlink tollway in Melbourne's east.
The state budget was handed down the other night and as reported, the
government expects revenue to rise based on patronage of this new road.

It will have banks of fixed speed cameras, mobile police patrols and
roadside car speed cameras.

Now, as Mitchell pointed out, the government and police drum into us that
speed cameras aren't about revenue. Rather, they're about "saving lives".
Cameras are set up where there are known hot spots for crashes, and
problematic excessive speeds.

However, Eastlink, a brand new multilane, modern, state-of-the-art divided
carriageway, hasn't even opened.

So, folks, it IS about revenue. The government budgets for it. No
government will concede that it is about revenue raising. No government,
to put their mouthes where their money is, will plough speeding fine
revenue back into road safety programs. Rather, it goes into consolidated
revenue.

A Question for Sylvia Else (paper towel vs electric hand dryer)

Author: Gordon Lightfoot III
Date: May 8, 2008 08:13

Dear Sylvia.

I had dinner at the Balgowlah RSL tonight and while visiting the mens
room, I over heard a discussion of two people arguing whether paper
hand towels or electric hand dryer were better for your skin, and it
got me wondering, which would have less of an environmental foot
print.

I was in the restroom on level two which has both paper and electric
dryer.

The paper towel dispenser dispenses a 23.5cm x 24cm sheet, and the
hand dryer timer goes for 20 seconds and is rated at 1650Wat.

My assumption is that the average paper user would take two pieces of
paper per wipe, and the air dryer user would press the button once.

Kind Regards,
GLIII

  bicycle road rage

If an idiot in a car changes lane in front of bicycles and then
suddenly brakes are the bicycles that run into him liable for the damage
to his car? Usually the vehicle in the rear is at fault.

Tailgaters, what do you do to combat them?

Author: Scotty
Date: May 8, 2008 03:05

We have all had them (or in some cases been the offender), tailgaters.

I had a bloody Truck on the M1 This morning at 5:30am, medium to heavy traffic and this prick in a
truck and trailer (Type that hauls dirt) decided that the 2 second rule should be the 1metre rule (I
kid you not) and at 100Ks I was very pissed off!

I slowed to around 90 so that he got the idea until he decided that the 10m gap in the next lane
(and he was around 15m long) was a better option. I pulled up along side as traffic in my lane was
then moving faster (we were all down to 80ish at this stage) and saw that he was right up some poor
ole ladies rear bumper, I couldnt read his number plate due to mud on it but did get his truck
details and transport company name.

My question is, What do you do in this situation?

Hitting the picks wouldve resulted in my wife burying me in a few days time and my kids being
without a dad.

Ive tried reporting this behaviour to the local police but they just dont give a shit they have
donuts to eat.

Following the bastard untl he stopped and dragging the prick out to beat him sensless would be the
bodies best idea but the brain was kind of against it.

I really do hate these cowboys being on our roads and Id love for them to realise just what a danger
they are to the cars in front of em. Short of slowing to a halt and shooting the ignorant prick in
the head Im slightly at a loss.
