More firsts - Hilux no. 1 in April sales

Author: David Z
Date: May 4, 2008 23:59

Two firsts - Hilux 1st place in sales, and Hilux beats Commodore. (Kind of
unusual, as in the US, the opposite is happening - over there, the new
Accord was actually 1st last month overall, outselling even the Ford
F-series pickup). Anyway, Corolla was 2nd, meaning it could very well be
the first time ever that Commodore has been in 3rd place in sales in a
single month.

Question for Dr Barnett (The Flu)

Author: David Springthorpe
Date: May 4, 2008 22:28

Dear Dr B

There is a medical issue that has had me thinking for a long time. If
I am busting to do a bowel motion and hold it for a while when I
finally get to a toilet as I lower my bottom onto the seat I let out a
loud fart followed by the product.

I always thought the product would be blocking the anal hole which
would mean the product would come before the fart. Does this happen to
anyone else or just me?

Regards
Gordon Lightfoot III

Recently I was on the train listening to my walkman and farted. The
gentleman in the front of me turned and said something, I could see
everyone laughing. I removed my headphones and asked him to repeat. He
said the next train down that line will be carrying the goods.
What a funny saying.

Registering a kit car in Australia

Author: Kwyjibo
Date: May 4, 2008 20:59

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in getting a (new) kit car
registered in Australia - Specifically Victoria? Do we have anything similar
to the single vehicle approvals available in the US and UK? Do all current
ADRs have to be met (noise, emissions etc.), or are any exempt when looking
at low volume vehicles?

Also - are British motor vehicle approval standards similar to ours? Any
major differences? (the car I'm interested in is a kit car manufactured in
the UK and it currently meets their standards)

fuel consumption has changed blending octane ratio

Author: Pit
Date: May 4, 2008 16:36

In a thread a while back the question of octane ratios came up.
Situation :

Prior to last service just used normal 91 unleaded (BP) & Gull

Post last service noticed consumption went up (over exactly same
routes and driving style )
went up about 1 litre per 100k

So chucked in half a tank of 95 35 litres to 70 litre tank
consumption went not only back to normal but improved slightly ?

ran tank down to 10 litres remaining refuelled vehicle to full with
91 and up went the consumption again.
Thought hmmmmmmmm so refilled next time with 98 consumption only
got worse ???

back to 50/.50 blend of 95/91 it the vehicle is less thirsty and back
to 7.3 7.7 per 100 clicks
on 98 its 10.9!!!!!

Asked the dealer AVG Perth what could be going on
only clue he thinks is they change the computer for winter motoring ?
And to parameters for its mileage ?
