Does anyone remember that when Ford Australia moved away from their X naming
convention (XY, XA, XD etc.) for Falcons they made it pretty clear that the
new names were an international Ford standard. The first Falcon to come
under this standard was the EA, but the full name of the EA was actually
EA26, where E indicated the body size (very large), A indicated that it was
designed/made in Australia and 26 was just a sequential number assigned to
the model.
How is it then that subsequent models have been given names such as EB, EL
and FG? Have they thrown away the 'international' naming standard?
