I returned the Trojan branded 9" grinding disks to Bunnings yesterday, for a
full refund. I spoke to the guy from the tool department and his words were
(to paraphrase):
"When the price is not too dissimilar to the Aussie made equivalent, I would
not touch that Chinese rubbish".
I purchased a couple of Flexovit disks (Aussie made) and they cut my steel
perfectly and quickly. The cost of the Flexovit disks was $3.67 each. The
cost of the Chinese disks was around $3.10 each.
BTW: The reason I did not buy Flexovit disks in the first place, was that
the Bunnings outlet I went to, had no disks with a 22.2mm mounting hole.

Honda CR-V sales skyrocketed last month. The CR-V is now *the* best-selling
SUV in the USA. Ford Explorer and Grand Cherokee used to be the best
sellers. No more. Not only that, but the CR-V is the 9th best-selling
vehicle overall in the US. There are also 2 other Hondas in the top 10,
which I probably don't need to mention as they should be obvious. The Ford
Escape seems to be doing very well too, in 2nd place in SUV sales, but still
a fair distance behind the CR-V. RAV4 and Forester come in way, way behind.
It's a shame that despite ruling just about every class they compete in,
Toyota just can't seem to get the compact SUV formula right.

Hi,
a Holden Zafira has a strange problem that my garage has not yet been
able to fix:
When there is less than 1/4 of petrol in the tank and the car drives
uphill, the engine suddenly "cuts out". I.e., the rpms go down to
about 700-1000 rpms and there is no power anymore to accelerate (the
car becomes slower and slower, but there is no stuttering). The only
thing that works in this situation is to fully release the accelerator
pedal (take the foot off the pedal) and then hit it hard. At this
point, the engine comes back and the car accelerates again.
The car is serviced at Suttons City Rosebery and they have done all
sorts of cleaning in the engine and the petrol transmission, but the
problem is still there. Now they propose to take out the whole fuel
tank and look in there (which will be expensive), but I'm not
convinced that this is the problem. I'm not a car expert, but it
sounds more like a problem with the electronics to me (and another
garage suggested that).

I'm going overseas, with previous cars I'd just disconnect the battery but I
now have a 2007 WRX and I'm not sure what that does to the alarm and
anti-theft system? More so when I power it back up? I'm only gone 12 days so
I'm wondering if I should just bother a friend to start it once a week
instead?

Here is the deal, Just the other week number two injector burst on my
rb30 equipped vl and caught fire. i was at home when it happened and
doused it pretty quick. so i'm a newly qualified mechanic so i
replaced the effected areas (one injector and a few feet of injector
wiring plus a set of plug leads). so everything is good to go, but it
wont start! i have fuel pressure and spark, i have also replaced the
computer and the air flow sensor. here is the kicker though, it ran
after the fire, if badly, but now it doesn't run. the only clue i have
is i arced out the bared injector wires while removing them because i
was a bit excited and left the ignition on. i also put an LED tester
on the new injector plugs and there is only the slightest glow just as
i start cranking. the other symptom is that...
