Lot of media coverage about the Burnley Tunnel at the moment, and how
to deal with slow trucks in multiple lanes. What gets me is that no-
one in the mass media has noticed that if the laws that we currently
have were enforced on *all* freeways, then this wouldn't be an issue.
So, a message to the powers that be (and, like me, how about you guys
write a letter to your local member): Keep LEFT unless overtaking
solves these problems on multi-lane freeways! And as a bonus, our
other freeways will flow better.
Cheers,
Steve

removing them and discovered a 17mm nut bolt combination holding the
"drag" link in place , so far one bent Sidchrome spanner ( Ill try
another brand claimed unbreakable shortly)I have been standing on the
spanner ( yes the tags are bent back) and about 90 Deg of rotation,,,

I suppose that most of you would have seen the report from the Caltex spokesman that
fuel prices would rise to $3.00 a litre.
What a brilliant marketing move.
You have most people now complaining about the $1.40 a litre and about how the ACCC
is not doing their job properly,
So, in comes this marketing ploy, telling everyone that even though you are
complaining about the price now, wait for a little while and the price is going to go
to $3.00 a litre.
This in effect, susbdues thte population into thinking they are getting a great deal
now at $1.40 as the price will go up and they are sooooo lucky now to get it at
todays prices.
I also believe what they are doing, is telling the people, that they, ( the oil
companies), don't give a fuck about the ACCC and they will lift the price when and by
how much that they wish.
They know also, that the ACCC, does not have the power to force the oil companies to
ease prices, , lower them, or keep them at a steady rate for any length of time.
Why we have to adhere to the overseas pricing of petroleum products is beyond me,
especially when we have out own oil and gas reserves.

Yesterday a female friend of mine had to take her car to a well known
national large tyre dealer to have a puncture repaired. Her work colleague
picked her up and took her to work some 30 mins away. She asked if I would
pick up the car for her and handle the details for her. About two hours
later, I got a phone call from the tyre dealer rep stating she needed 4
tyres replaced as they were almost not legal and she would be wasting her
time spending the $25 for the puncture repair. I asked for a quote and was
told $115 per wheel fitted and balanced, plus $10 for tyre disposal. I then
asked for a discount (I would dispose of the tyres myself) and as it would
be a cash deal, considering there were 4 of them. He came back and said $99
each.
I made the call to my friend and she said what did I think. As I didn't know
the condition of her tyres, I told her she should be able to trust this
particular company.
When I got the call in the afternoon to pick up the car, I went to check the
old tyres for wear, but couldn't find them. I then asked the assistant where
were they. 5 mins later, 2 guys came out with the 4 tyres and put them in
the boot. After I got home I went to check on the tyres to see if they would
be good enough for my trailer as spares. I was somewhat amazed to notice how
the punctured tyre had been repaired and all 4 had been painted to make them ...

Had to change the battery on the 04 Lancer ES today. First time since new.
NRMA bloke told me that a normal battery for me car has about 350amps and
my one was reading 88amps. So time to change.
I was also told by another fellow that a 3yo battery is due for replacement
anyway. I tort they lasted a bit longer than 3 years, say 8years or so? Or
am I too optimistic? :)
I can't stop trolls from getting into this post but I am genuinely
interested in battery lifespans in a motoring sorta way :)
