  Polo Tdi

Made a big mistake when I brought my Viva a couple of years ago and dont
wish to repeat it.

Am looking at trading it in on a VW Polo TDi and was wondering if anyone had
comments on this car ? Actually comments on any turbo diesel car would be
interesting.

thanks

  Fairmont EL Instrument Problem

Author: wiradjuri
Date: Mar 31, 2008 22:55

I have an issue with my 1996 Fairmont EL. All the instruments
intermittently power off (ie the all go to zero position ) and then
some time later power back on again. This affects the dashboard
instruments - speedo - tacho etc - but does not affect the trip
computer. It does seem to stop the auto from shifting into overdrive
though. As it appears to be an electrical fault I was wondering if
there was any experience out there that may help shorten the
investigation time. Any insights appreciated.

Many thanks

  Slightly OT: Trailer parts

Author: Kwyjibo

Does anyone know of anywher in the outer east or outer southeast of
Melbourne that sells part for trailers - specifically hubs? I'm after 2
replacement hubs to take 6 stud rims from a 60 series landcruiser. What's a
reasonable price to expect to pay?

Also - Are all hubs pretty much the same in terms of the axels they will
fit, or do I need to mention specific bearing sizes when buying? (The
trailer has what I believe to be a fairly 'standard' axle - not heavy duty
or anything like that)

Truckies under the spotlight yeehaw!! Ch 7

Author: Roger

Gotta watch Ch7 tonight they will do an expose of the trucking industry, sex
(Goondowindi Roadhouse as seen on ABC Lateline), drugs (cigarettes are still
legal but so many drivers smoke its a disgrace), rock & roll (the condition
of the roads).

They work (but dont get paid) far too many hours, just like public hospital
doctors (but they get paid).

Australian Trucking industry was the largest user of AWAs (according to
Howard's watchdog on (un)fair pay), so now we pay for the results of a
system of contracts where employers stipulated transit times with "no
excuse" clauses and fines for late arrivals.

I've now seen two owner driver contracts which stipulated that the truck
must arrive by 6am in an interstate city but no penalty for late departure
caused by the company - the forklift drivers knew this and demand $200 to
get the truck loaded and away on time.

And now the trucking industry wants to bring in Chinese and Korean truck
drivers on 457 visas because they cant find Australian slaves who will work
for $10 an hour.
