This is stupid. On a State level. At a Federal level. And globally.

Electronic stability controls will be "abused" and when the
passenger at the wheel counts on it, it may not work, or work as
expected.

Car makers will build more cars that handle terribly without ESC.

Drivers have to learn the practical laws of physics and experience
the limits first-hand.

Australians will buy anything if it is marketed well. MMAL can lay a lot of
the failure of the 380 on their abysmal advertising and promotion campaign.

  Hyundai S-Coupe won't start

Author: Knobdoodle
Date: Feb 8, 2008 03:00

My daughter's roller-skate S-Coupe (1991) has become a bitch to start
all-of-a-sudden.
No problems previously and no build-up but suddenly it just spins and spins
and then finally catches on one, two then eventually four cylinders .....
Once running on four it's fine (and once warm starts easily).
It's not like the old resistor/coil thing where it wouldn't get spark until
you released the key either. It's like there's a "cold-start" thingy that's
not working.
I replaced the plugs but I felt a bit thirsty after that so I kinda' stopped
........
Any ideas?
(It's a 1.5L 2-valve OHC CDI/EFI donk that's done about 250,000 km).
Thanks.

best fuel consumpiton and using the gears

Author: Obakesan

Folks

just wanted to see if others here have the same findings as me. I don't have
an accurate fuel consumption meter to confirm it.

5 speed manual:

flat road driving with a constant speed best fuel economy is the highest gear
you have

however, as soon as you start to climb a hill, then reduce the gear to keep
the revs closer to the maximum torque range of the engine.

On my mitsubishi pajero (V6 3L) at 100Km/H in 5th I find that I change back to
4th or perhaps 3rd depending on the hill / load of passengers n stuff.

My mate on the other hand just keeps his foot on the pedal untill the revs
start to slow (meaning he's loosing speed), then changes down to get to the
same gear as I got to earlier.

On an automatic gearbox:

I flick it out of OD as soon as I start up the hill, and flick it back on
nearing the crest (as speed starts to rise anyway). This often requires no
change in pedal indicating to me that I'm not needing to open up the
'throttle' more meaning using less fuel.

no?
