  Carbon Fibre Rims

Author: Diesel Damo
Date: Feb 12, 2008 20:42

6kg compared to 18kg for the alloy equivalent. Apparently they don't
do 16" with a Hilux stud pattern though ;-)

wheels.html>

If you're looking for one of the coolest rims money can buy, German
specialist "Wheelsandmore" has the answer to your prayers: the
"Megalight-Forged-Series". These two piece wheels combine carbon-fiber
rims with ultra light alloy centers and titanium screws (approximately
40%% weight savings compared to a stainless steel screw).

According to the "Wheelsandmore", the 20-inch version of this
technically advanced carbon-fiber / alloy wheel weighs a mere 6 kg or
about 13.2 lbs. That's compared to 18 kg or approx 40 lbs of a
standard same-size alloy wheel. But nothing comes for free as a set of
20-inch Megalight Forged Series wheels cost EURO 20,000 or $29,000. The
carbon-fiber / alloy wheels are available in 18 to 23'' sizes.

  Where has LPG gone wrong?

Author: RogerM
Date: Feb 12, 2008 18:46

Why is it that most new cars being released today are offering diesel
alternatives and not LPG to their powerplants? Having said that, the
exception is the Falcon dedicated LPG and why aren't Toyota and Holden
offering dedicated LPG to their flagships?

  and the joint winners are?

Author: RogerM
Date: Feb 12, 2008 14:26

Well we have two winners to the question about the 2007 Landcruiser. There
were some very funny and clever answers as well so to all who responded in
the right light of things...........well done.

Over 30 responses in less than 20hrs is not too shabby, so I guess some did
care Noddy. Nothing like attempting to put a bit of fun into this group even
at the risk of upsetting you and your lonely followers (Dan and
Athol).....that's a fucking joke on it's own. I must admit I am disappointed
my old mates, DAVO/DAVid and OzOne didn't offer any input to the question.

Anyway, now I have your attention and just to upset old tarface a bit more,
who are the two winners?

Beers & Cheers

New car marketing and ridiculous exclusive options

Author: The Raven
Date: Feb 12, 2008 03:56

OK, time for a gripe. I don't expect much of a response but please allow me
to vent anyhow.

I'm in the market for a new car and am starting to get annoyed with some of
the marketing that goes with the industry.

I've set a budget, done my research, identified a few contenders BUT then
they all screw that up with illogical restrictions on option choices AND/OR
the new model "just around the corner" (which apparently takes half a year
to turn).

What is it with the "That option isn't available on this model, only on the
other body styles/specs can have it"?

FFS if you offer an option on a sedan (for example) then why can't you get
it on the hatch or wagon version? I can appreciate some optional items
aren't interchangable but otherwise if I'm willing to buy it then why can't
I have it? If I want it that bad I'll specially order it and wait...but no,
dealers don't like that (delayed sale). Who is doing the market research
that determines one specific model variant can't have the same option as the
rest of the range?
