How do you accept something but not put up with it? :)

Sure it will.
Like I said, go find somewhere off the grid like a bark hut in the middle of
the scrub and get rid of all your mod cons. No one will know you exist.

Which will achieve what exactly?

What's the basic problem with it? I mean, in a nutshell?

Chrysler had money issues a *long* time before the oil crisis, and they
survived for a while afterwards. They died because no one wanted their cars,
and no one wanted their cars for ages because they didn't have the money to
come up with a clean design every few years like everyone else did.
The last model Valiant was a mildly hashed over version of the car they
brought out ten years before, while everything else around them was "new".

No, it means truly paranoid like it always has.

No, I don't believe that at all.
I know it's going on, but I *accept* it as part of modern life. Like a lot
of other things we have to put up with, there's no way around it. You either
accept it or go live in a cave and get off the grid.

I assure you, the day will never come in my lifetime where I care about any
of this any more than I do right now.

Two clear cut choices here Toby: Put up with it of fuck off.
Your call.

invent an engine that say, is 6cyl, when on the highway at cruising speed
and not labouring (or liberaling) have some kind of device fitted that drops
the fuel inlet to say 2 or 3 cylinders to conserve fuel and then when the
power was required again switch to extra an cylinder or cylinders for the
added power? Just a thought and probably not feasible but I thought some of
you guys in here could give an explanation as to whether it would work or
not.
Beers & Cheers
Roger
