Torque Converter lockup problem - VQ Statesman

Author: SJ
Date: Jan 30, 2007 05:34

Hi,

I have a 1991 VQ Statesman(5L) and the Torque Converter does not lockup when
cruising in drive anymore. Is this likely to cause any problems on a long
Highway trip and any idea of the cause/ cost to repair such a problem?

Thanks.

  seeping

What are the odds that an Ultratune mechanic was lying to me when he said
that he thought my radiator was "seeping" and that it needed replacement?

Ignoring his advice I have since driven about more than 2000 kms with no
problems...

  Damn you Victorians!

No-one told me you had yellow police cars :-P

I got pinged at 125 in a 100 zone somewhere outside of Shepparton by
what looked like (in the distance) some yellow thing with advertising
on it. Oh well, I was making good time up until then.

On the way down I drove past a normal blue and white Vic cop car at
what must have easily been 120+ in a 110 zone, so at least it's only
your fixed cameras that suck :-)

  Removing tint - possible?

The only glass left on the Hilux with tint is the front passenger
window and the rear window. Is there any way to remove this and leave
a clear finish? I'd just prefer all my windows to show what's really
there rather than a purple slant on reality.

If you recall my previous post regarding havint intermittent problems with
my impco snorkel system....

Today I upgraded to an OMVL converter and a next generation Sprint Gas
mixer!

Car runs beautifully with this but I am missing ONE thing...
I need the electronic valve that connects between the thin vacuum hose on
the mixer and somewhere on the manifold?

So when I select petrol it kicks in and sucks the vacuum hose and opens the
hat in the mixer.

Anyone know what I mean and where and what brands / prices and where I can
get one?

Fanx! :)

AUSTRALIA ON THE VERGE OF A TRAGEDY

Author: sir.jpturcaud
Date: Jan 30, 2007 00:20

with 1000 of homes in all of Australia Cities to be the prey of flames
and ten of thousand of people going to meet terrible & implacable
death by being caught in whirlwind megafires .... ending indeed in
huge mass graves & mourned by a completely overwhelmed population
unable to retain its tears !

AND THE ONLY GENTLEMAN ABLE TO BRING REMEDY TO THAT DISASTROUS
SITUATION IN AUSTRALIA IS KEPT AT BAY BY ALL THAT CONVICT RABBLE ON
TOP !

Indeed as said I will only return with Bob Brown as Prime Minister
and Bob Sheppard as Premier of Western Australia ! Isn't that
clear ? ... of course the Mining Criminals will be put in jail while I
am here ... I don't want indeed any of that manure spoiling the
country side while I tour Australia again !!!

The clock is counting back the seconds either to an easy to foresee
IMMENSE TRAGEDY FOR AUSTRALIA OR TO THE RETURN OF SIR TURCAUD TO THE
LAND HE LOVED BEST

... as a bonus I am adding some reply regarding the Plimer fool ...a
most sterile Rock Surveyor indeed masquerading as a geologist around
South Yarra ( probably a fan of that Tyrwhitt fraud as well )

RENAULT Aluminium casting repair, query re "bondy" fibreglass or "liquid metal" space age plastic etc

Author:

Mmmm, the more I have a proper look at this car, the more *issues* I see.
But I've bought it, so hopefully I'll get me money's worth of use from it.
It was "only" $500. It came with $50 petrol in the tank and $150 worth of
Rego, The near new tyres are worth $99 each, plus it's got a near new
radiator and battery (big bastard, 460 cca and 85 ah)

1.....I see the signs underneath of a previous fairly major left front crash
repair to
the chassis member thingy on the left side of centre

2.....I see the aluminium sump casing (of the engine block.....the manual
gearbox
is separate) at the bottom has an apparent repair job, likely cracked at
same time. The repair stuff is hard to scratch with fingernail and is copper
coloured instead of aluminim coloured so I'm guessing it IS NOT aluminium
MIG welding etc. It was spread across while still liquid, as some hardened
drips are visible. I don't think it's just ordinery body filler "bondy"
fibreglass. Hopefully it's *proper* stuff

3.....I notice the engine oil sump bung drainplug has gooey sealastic stuff
around it. It isn't normal to add this simply as an extra precaution so I
guess the thread is stripped completely or partly....
