not much longer than usual, The VT came out before the AU and was due
for a change, the next Falcon will be out by 2008

I've fixed these before by disassembling the unit, removing the contact
strip for the LCD and cleaning it with alcohol on both ends. Reassemble and
everything should be sweet. Note that is very easy to mess things up
permanently if you're not very careful so don't blame me if you attempt this
and f#ck it up completely ;-)

Also it didn't come with the radio pin, so if I ever need

Avoidable if you give me your VIN ;-)
