Good point Pits, I used to have exactly the same view and made that
very criticism on rec.aviation.piloting. I also use to try helping
him as much as I could despite warnings from others. It is now public
knowledge who he is, he is Anthony Atkielski and teaches English in
Paris, and he has a website and takes tourists on private tours around
Paris. so he is obviously not house bound other than by choice. I
gave up trying to help this guy out of pure frustration at his
inability or unwillingness to EVER accept that he might be wrong. if
you want more proof of that you could try following the thread on
takeoff and landing performance of the C172. I ended up apologising
to rec.aviation for encouraging this guy. Many of the experienced
instructors on the sites have serious concerns about the authorative
way he posts incorrect information that may have safety implications
for students pilots.
