ELEVEN crew from the ABC TV comedy show The Chaser have been detained by
police after staging a fake motorcade through Sydney as part of an APEC
week stunt.
The team from the satirical TV program The Chaser's War on Everything were
in a convoy of three cars and two motorbikes which was reportedly ushered
through two checkpoints in Sydney's APEC security "red" zone.
The convoy was pulled over in Macquarie Street on a block adjacent to the
InterContinental Hotel, where US President George W Bush is a guest during
the APEC summit.
The ABC said Chaser stars Julian Morrow and Chas Licciardello were
detained late this morning following the stunt near the hotel.

Isn't television entertainment justification enough?

It did *prove* that some security measures simply didn't work.

Yes - you'd think that for APEC the pigs could find some *competent*
security staff to guard the compound, and keep the scum inside the cage
separated from the citizens. What sort of policing are we getting for
our taxes?
Of course, the lads from "The Chaser" could have done a better job too,
I'm sure they could have passed the third checkpoint if they'd tried a
bit harder.
Cheers,
Gary B-)

From the result, that group would have to be the security team - blessed are
they who run around in circles for they are big security wheels :)

Off at a tangent but the people involved did step off an aircraft.
Heard this comment on the local ABC radio and thought it was soooo true.
The leader of the largest communist country landed in Perth a couple of days
ago, stepped off the aircraft and began shaking hands with onlookers. Little
security, no hoo-ha.
The leader of the so called free world stepped off the aircraft in Sydney
surrounded by security, whisked away in armoured vehicles, decoys and all.
Never got near a real person.
Makes you wonder.
cheers
