Did you know today is the anniversary of the Battle of Hamel, where the
newly-arrived Yanks disobeyed orders by begging and borrowing Australian
uniforms so that they could "celebrate the 4th of July by joining the
battle" alongside the Aussies against the Germans?

Their presence came to light when Americans in mixes of American and
Australian uniforms started turning up in British medical posts.

Some were awarded Imperial honours by the King.

Nice one boys.
