Second Sydney Airport anyone?

With talk of a second Sydney Airport being built, wonder whether the
promoters will try to pull off a similar stunt here?
Also heard on ABC radio this morning that Wollondilly Council have spoken
out against a second airport being built at Wilton.

Subject: Panorama - BAA invented 'green' jumbo to help win Heathrow case

Monday night (21/7/2008) - BBC1 Panorama will be about Heathrow
expansion.

The programme will unearth new evidence about the way in which BAA and
the Department for Transport colluded over the air pollution
figures.

Some of this is trailed into today's Sunday Times.

And you may ask why again!

The G'ment come up with these grandeur ideas and why are they eventually
canned - simple, infrastructure, like the one out near Penrith, rail
links, roads, the G'ment do not have the funds to implement these
proposals.

All they have to do is open up Mascot 24hrs and make use of the under
utilised night time capacity of the roads. See problem solved.

Back in the late 70s, there was MANS - Major Airport Needs of Sydney
study. Lots of money invested by all govts - the Feds put in most.
Wilton was quickly dismissed. Land acquisition, road upgrades for
construction traffic, major consultancies for preliminary design. This
was for Badgerys Creek...

Don't forget that most of the ground under Wilton is hollow. Riddled
with long wall coal mines and subsidence areas.
