hey guys... i've been searching thru the site a fair bit but haven't
come up with much on curtis aviation. i guess that's a good thing to
some degree, i seem to find a lot of threads on basair =P

so has anyone flown with these guys? do they have a good/bad/average
reputation in the industry? i'm wanting to get my CPL part time over the
next few years, and they offer a lot of useful stuff like bush strip
training (i plan to be flying places like PNG, philippines, indo, etc
with nasty short grass strips), flying trips, aerobatics, and stuff like
that. the guys have been really friendly and seem pretty good from what
i can tell as a newbie

any thoughts and opinions appreciated!

I got my ppl through Curtis with ab initio in a Citabria. I'm more than
happy with them. No serious intentions on my part to get a CPL but if I
do I'll go with Curtis.

That's my opinion for whatever usenet opinions are worth. Go out to
Camden & talk to them, take a TIF and make up your own mind.

thanks for the feedback guys, i appreciate it a lot!

i've done a TIF and a lesson with them, TIF was with craig and lesson
with darren - i've been pretty impressed with everything i've seen so
far, and have heard very little negative feedback which is pretty good
in our world of "a content customer will tell 1 person, while a
discontent customer will tell at least 10 people"

tony - i'm accessing this usenet group thru a forum, so i can't see ur
email. feel free to drop me a line tho if you've got more details. steve
dot callan at yahoo dot com dot au

tks again guys

steve

There is a fair chance I'm wrong, but don't you need a certain amount
of 'real' commercial flying experience to be a CFI?

Nick.

Oh I'm sure if such a requirement exists, good ol' "RM" would have
ticked that box with the minimum required experience. I just got bored
with the same "when I was flying a Chieftain" story (note singular...not
"stories") I made enquiries...turns out his "real" commercial experience
was practically non-existent outside the instructing world (considering
the "legal" defenition of "commercial" in that sentence).

I don't wish the guy any harm - quite the opposite. I hope the Marshall
clan have every success. However, they should "fess up" and quit the BS
about what they have and haven't ACTUALLY done.

Cheers,

James

The guy doesn't -claim- to have any real world commercial experience
James - at least not anymore... but he probably needs to get some if he
wishes to be treated seriously outside of the protected environment...
